The EHX Neo Holy Grail is an update to our wildly popular compact digital reverb, the Holy Grail. It contains three reverb algorithms: SPRING, HALL, and PLATE. All three algorithms were designed and tailored for the electric guitar, but they work equally well on most instruments and voices.

The SPRING algorithm is a re-creation of the classic spring reverbs that are found in many guitar amplifiers. The HALL algorithm simulates the reverberations heard in large spaces such as a concert hall or cathedral. The PLATE algorithm is an emulation of a metal plate reverb commonly found in high end recording studios during the 1960s and '70s. When the original circuit was developed, there seemed to be countless overdrives on the market that had what many people describe as a 'nasal' tone, but Nobels worked hard on creating a very 'open' sounding pedal that works with you and your amplifier. With numerous requests from the pedal community and professional players worldwide, Nobels have added the option of an internal Bass Cut switch under the battery cover to help tame your low end if needed. In standard mode though, you still get the full frequency response of the original that is perfect for warming up single coils etc. In addition, the internal power circuitry has been increased to allow for 9-18 V capability to provide extra headroom, if your playing styles and tone goals require it. These new features haven't altered the fundamental tone and vibe, but have increased the versatility of the pedal massively for modern rigs.

With the drive control, the distortion can be easily adjusted from almost clean to maximum drive. The circuit also works very well with your guitar's volume control, so by backing off the volume you can clean up your tone. The tonal range is controlled by the Spectrum control tone pot with mid-click and fluorescent pointers on the Glow-in-the-Dark knobs. Turn the knob clockwise and it increases the bass and treble at the same time, while turning it counter clockwise has the opposite effect. The midrange stays untouched in either direction, to ensure a transparent yet warm tone wherever the Spectrum knob is placed.

Users can choose from dozens of Eventide presets to load via MIDI, which are also accessible in the preset list on the Eventide Device Manager (EDM - a Windows or Mac OS X application for software updates, system settings and creating/saving presets).

The pedal can store up to 127 presets in memory, with five presets loaded at a player's feet for access from a latching/momentary dual-action Active Footswitch with a Catch-up mode to help players dial in their sound when toggling between presets/parameters. A single Aux switch can be deployed to Tap Tempo, or a triple Aux switch can be used for easy preset changing (up/down/load). Four independent modulation sections:

The heart of the pedal is its four, independent modulation sections synced in time, they are:

MOD features great sounding EHX Vibrato, Flanger, Chorus or Phaser. The Depth knob lets you set the amount of the effect while Feedback controls the resonance of the Flanger and Phaser.

TREM delivers tremolo, an effect that modulates the volume of your signal. The Depth control sets tremolo intensity.

PAN modulates between left and right in stereo operation. In mono operation the PAN section acts as another tremolo section, but with the wave shapes all inverted!

FILTER offers a choice of a modulated LPF, HPF or BPF. In LPF (low pass filter) frequencies above a modulated cut-off point are cut. In HPF (high pass filter) frequencies below a modulated cut-off point are cut, and in BPF (band pass filter) frequencies above and below a modulated centre point are cut.

Each section also features a choice of four LFO shape options: rising sawtooth, triangle, falling sawtooth or square wave. They affect the way the modulation transitions and provide advanced creative control over the specific section as well as the way they interact with each other.

Tempo control that's flexible and powerful:

The MOD REX delivers virtually limitless polyrhythmic possibilities.

Its TEMPO component gives you nine note-length choices for each of the four modulation sections. They are independently selectable in increments starting at a whole note and ranging thru subdivisions that go up to a 16th note. In addition, any of the sections can be bypassed.

The MOD REX's tempo (displayed as beats per minute or BPM) is adjustable with the Tempo knob, Tap Tempo footswitch or by using an expression pedal into its EXP input. It can also be synced to an external device with MIDI Clock or an external pulse clock.

Notes: The Moby Dick V2 brings up to date one of the first pedals that put Hungry Robot on the map. The original Moby Dick is well known for its chimey, tape-emulating delay line with slight lo-fi imperfections and subtle modulation; a "back-to-basics" delay in the world of multi-mode DSP delays.

The V2 has an obviously smaller footprint, but the most exciting changes lie in the circuit updates. When working on the V2, Hunry Robots wanted to further explore the sonic capabilities of the Moby Dick tape-emulation, rather than a miniature version of the pedal- specifically in a lo-fi, wrecked-tape context.

One of the magical qualities of recording to tape is the lovely saturation. The original Moby Dick had a gritty, saturated quality, but in the V2, this quality was pushed to its limit. A "Lo-Fi" knob which allows you to dial in additional tape saturation to the delay line. This is done by applying pre-gain amplification to the front end of the delay chip, resulting in a wonderfully organic character when gain is applied.

The capabilities of the modulation were also expanded. The original Moby Dick had a very subtle chorusing effect. Though it sounded great, it was admittedly subtle. The V2 increases the modulation depth dramatically, allowing it to travel beyond subtle chorusing into more extreme pitch bending territory. The "Mod" in conjunction with a cranked "Lo-Fi" knob creates the most amazing broken tape-deck quality, but when these knobs are dialed back it retains the overall character of the original.

Phew, that was close. The Dwell control sets the length and thickness of the decay, which is to say that it controls how long the disembodied spirits of notes no longer with us float through the ether. At the maximum setting it will descend into an infinite loop of self-oscillation. The Depth sets the intensity of the reverb, which you probably know as the wet/dry mix.

Controls:
1. Attack: Adjusts the length of the pre-delay, from 30ms at minimum to about 150ms at maximum. When the Dwell is set to self-oscillate, this will change the pitch of the oscillations.

2. Dwell: Adjusts the length of the decay. This will start to self oscillate around 3 O'clock, the pitch of the oscillations can be changed by turning the Attack control.

3. Depth: Mixes in the wet signal with the dry, unity is around noon and everything after is boosted.

Cirrus is KMA Audio Machines' first step into the fully digital realm. But KMA have come up with a special and versatile, dynamically modulated combined Delay and Reverb pedal that will forever change your perception of time and space.

Made up of a Delay side and a Reverb side, both sides of Cirrus sport the most important basic controls such as Time (up to 1.5 sec). Repeats for the Delay and Decay and Damp for the Reverb. Plus, each side has its own mix control as well. So far so good, but now it's time to jump down the sonic wormhole!

This little Spatial-Temporal Modifier gives you three different Delay AND Reverb modes, which all sport a special dynamic feature that is controlled by your picking attack. This enables you to create sounds that are certifiably out of this world! To set the sensitivity of how the sound reacts, every section has its own sensitivity control.

The different Delay and Reverb modes cover vastly different modulated areas.

Modulated Delay Mode (MOD) fluctuates the Delay signal for a dynamic dancing tape echo-inspired modulation that'll deliver everything from subtle sways, to crazy pitch-bends. The Sample & Hold Mode (S/H) adds a sequencer-like filter in front of the Delay line, perfect for synthy textures. Play softly for subtle filter action or hit it hard for more pronounced electro-vibes. The third Delay Mode (OCT) blends in a high octave as your notes decay for unique shimmery dimensions, shining through like tiny stars in the cloudy night sky.

Over to the Reverb section, Modulated Reverb Mode (MOD) will decorate your trails with silky smooth movement, whereas the two other Modes deliver either an opening Low-pass Filter (LP) or a closing High-pass Filter (HP). The harder you pick the more the Low-pass will open up and bring in those shimmering highs, as if you're opening and closing portals to far away galaxies simply through your playing. Contrary to that, the closing High-pass will cut your lower frequencies when picking harder which will create cool lo-f textures. However, the ambient party doesn't stop here!

A big part of creating a signature sound comes from your pedal order and we know that a lot of you like to get creative there. Well, the Cirrus obliges! Set the Order Toggle to "Reverb" to run the Delay into the Reverb or flip it to "Delay" to switch it the other way - either direction will give you worlds of inspired soundscapes. You even get another Toggle Switch to set the Delay Tap subdivision, so you can get the right rhythms rolling fast. Toggles are awesome!

Now, on to the footswitches - Tap-Tempo on the left (neat!) and the much-needed Bypass Switch on the right (classic!). But wait, we actually made these stompers cool - the humble Bypass and Tap-Tempo Switches are suddenly full of additional creative secrets!

Besides the standard latching mode, the Bypass Switch offers some cool, yet creative and simple to use options. When the pedal is off, you can engage the pedal momentarily by holding the Switch down for sudden bursts of ambience. When the pedal is on though, holding down the Switch maxes out the Decay, jumping you straight into infinite reverb wonderland. You can also hold down the Tap-Tempo Switch to max out the repeats for infinite echoes. Plus, you can even hold down BOTH at the same time to enter an endless cascading dream state!

The Cirrus has been equipped with an Expression Pedal input (standard TRS connection) and a Selector Switch, giving you complete hands-free control over whatever key parameter of Cirrus you want. In addition, an internal switch can turn the Reverb and Delay trails on or off to taste, plus the individual Reverb and Delay mix controls help to tailor your sound exactly as you see ft.

As the final piece of the tonal puzzle, a Serial FX-Loop was added, letting you put any pedal in front of the Delay/Reverb line, to further flavour your own signature sound.

The ZOIA is basically a modular synthesizer in pedal form. Instead of being a delay effect or tremolo, the ZOIA provides the modules necessary to build a delay or tremolo from the ground up. But since you're the one building it, you can make it do whatever you want. With the ZOIA you can build your own custom effects, synthesizers, midi controllers, and virtual pedal boards. And to make life a little easier, these modules have been created for all your standard guitar effects. So for instance, if you want a phaser, you can just plop down a phaser. Notes: The Archer Ikon is sort of a 2 in one guitar pedal. It can be used as just a clean boost by turning the gain all the way down. As you introduce gain it will attenuate the clean signal but there is a magical blend in between that you will find. Please experiment!!

Notes: While the OD808 may have been the first overdrive circuit of its kind, it was the OD-9 that cemented this sound in the history of Rock & Roll guitar.

Looking at the OD-9's circuit, you'll realize that this is not some redesign being cleverly marketed as a reissue - this is THE original OD-9 (TS-9) circuit, yet with the addition of true bypass switching. Even the PC board is the same one that Maxon's been using for the past 30+ years, complete with empty slots where parts for the FET switching circuit have been left out!

Like the original, the current production OD-9 features the NJM (JRC) 4558D Op Amp - an essential component for authentic "TS" tone. The NJM is smoother sounding and less compressed than other Op Amps, offering superior sound quality with low noise.

The absence of the FET switching circuit gives the OD-9 some added output and a slightly more open sound than the OD808, making it perfect for the classic rock tones that it helped to define.

If your future plans include a meteoric rise to rock & roll stardom, then rely on the legendary tones of the OD-9 to fuel your ascent.

The OD-9 is a true-to-spec reissue of the legendary 1980's OD-9/TS-9 circuit, with the addition of true bypass switching for clean, uncolored tone when bypassed.

TECH TALK:

Input is fed into a 2SC1815 emitter/follower transistor to optimize the signal's impedance structure. From here it's on to the first section of an NJM 4558D Op Amp - NJM is the company formerly known as the Japan Radio Corporation (JRC) - the legendary manufacturer that designed and built tons of these components in the late 70's/early 80's.

In this non-inverting Op Amp there are diodes in the feedback loop that clip the signal gradually as well as a High-Pass filter that keeps low frequencies from being distorted as much as high frequencies - the classic "808" configuration that creates the tone we all know and love.

After this is a passive LP filter and then an active tone stage that uses the other half of the Op Amp to create a HP filter that brings back frequencies cut by the inter-stage LP filter. After the tone stage it's through the volume pot, another E/F 2SC1815 to provide a low impedance output and then the true bypass switch.

The OD-9 features Mechanical True Bypass switching via a Fujisoku 4PDT switch - input signal is sent to ground when bypassed.

Notes: Electro-Harmonix has reissued their late-1970's era Op-Amp Big Muff Pi. Sometimes also referred to as the IC or V4 Big Muff, the original circuitry has been faithfully re-created while several practical enhancements have been added including a compact, die-cast chassis and true bypass switching.

According to Electro-Harmonix founder, Mike Matthews, "The Op-Amp Big Muff was popularized by the brilliant Billy Corgan who first used it on the Smashing Pumpkins' epic 1993 album Siamese Dream. After he was videotaped playing and talking about the reissue, Billy stated: "The magic's still in the box, I can still get what I'm looking for!"

The pedal relies on op-amps rather than transistors and three gain stages rather than four, to create its signature sound. It's a sound that's been described by noted Big Muff collector and historian, Kit Rae, as: "a huge, crushing Big Muff sound with more crunch...great for grungy, wall-of-sound distortion, heavy rhythm playing and heavy leads."

The Op-Amp Big Muff Pi features standard controls: Sustain, Tone and Volume, plus a Tone switch for bypassing the tone circuit. It comes equipped with a 9V battery or can be powered by an optional 9-volt AC adapter.
