Track 1 (5:48)
Track 2 (Orree remix) (7:23)
Review: Minimal murkery wrapped up in untitled mystery, 'A/B' sees French experimentalist Orree lay down two beguiling pieces of stripped-back bass brutalism. 'A' hits like a twisted instrumental grime cut that's been through the washing machine too many times. Rippled, clean and totally out of shape. 'B' has also been through the same process but then also marinated in high levels of diesel for a sleazier, oily and intoxicating experience. Limited so don't sleep.

Review: This stunning selection of ambient house cuts from the new one-off outlet My Dear brings together both the Goliaths and Davids of a heartfelt local music scene. Named after the party series held in the Gewolbe club in Cologne, the V/A celebrates its best exclusives heard both within the club and elsewhere on the transnational dancefloor. The likes of Rising Sun, DJ Koze and Robag Whrume are interspersed with closer-to-the-ground names like Proskauer Slide, Pom Pom and Wassermann and all tracks are specially selected for their dreamy, soft quality. Perfect for heartbreaks (and makes) on a clandestine floor.

Review: So many artists were hammered by the pandemic, it's impossible to draw much distinction between who fared well and who fared worse. Psychologically, the impact of disconnect and isolation on major global stars would have been immense, while emergents had the wind taken out of their sails in such a brutal way, at a time when momentum was everything.

Kelly Lee Owens falls somewhere between the two, with the pandemic devastating plans for a world tour, indicative of where she'd got to, and where she was tipped for next. With all dates off, she opted to jump on a plane - as it happens the last plane to Norway before borders shut - where she hauled up in a studio with avant-noise supremo Laase Marhaug. No particular place else to be, nor a plan, their recording sessions are capture here in music channelling industrial electronica, Celtic mysticism, leftfield pop and something else.

Review: Jacidorex is a techno producer who has been active on the scene since the mid-noughties and known for his signature acid-infused sound. He has released numerous EPs and albums over the years on various labels including Acid Night, Obs.Cur, and Smashead Records and is back with another album - UNFACED01. This one sees the Belgian DJ/producer pushing the boundaries of the genre even further, with his signature brand of dynamic hypnotic acid patterns. It begins with a cinematic introduction before opening into a hip-hop track, which then swiftly transitions into electro, industrial and trance influences throughout.

Vortex (16:18)
The Goddess (8:26)
Black Sea II (7:40)
Review: New this week on Bless You, the sub label of Berlin's Sound Metaphors, we have Aggelos Baltas' Anatolian Weapons project. Conceived as a way to bring together the EBM of his Dream Weapons alias and his kraut-rock exploits as Fantastikoi Hxoi, with the polyrhythmic percussion and wailing tones of Greek folk music. PT 1. features cosmic and dubbed out expeditions; the A-side cut 'Vortex' will have you trancing out in slow motion just like its name suggests. Over on flip, more strobed-out and mental tackle awaits, such as on the 100 BPM lysergic trip of 'The Goddess' and the downbeat hypnotic techno journey of 'Black Sea II' exploring the same realms of Vactrol Park or Karamika.

Review: 'Waiting For The Lights' was first released in 1992, and is a breakbeat heartbreaker in mono, marrying stuttering leads and bleepazoid melodies into a hissing stew. Mandalay's mix is a heavyweight remix, not shy of indulging in 'tribal' additions such as marimba and djembe. By far the best remix is the Thai Mix, adding the perfect amount of weight with a rollicking acid line. We'll only say this about 'Waiting For Champion Sound', the B4: it deserved to be more of a hit.

Review: Lo Fidelity Music is back with more high-quality tuneage. This time it is the Rave Invaders series helmed by Lennard Ypma that gets us dancing with a bonkers mix of brilliance including a remix from the unique mind of Legowelt. His take on 'Wolf Men' is spaced-out house music with a midpoint morph that brings on utter carnage. It's a heavy weapon to keep up your sleeve, for sure. Elsewhere there is serrated acid madness on '818313', caustic cosmic stompers like 'Matig Modern' and electro acid vibes on 'Wolf Men.' A fierce collection of fresh electro, for sure.

Review: The Semantica label's aesthetic has long been established but never grows old. It's a Spanish outlet that manages to find endlessly innovative artists who are all masterful sound designs and know how to make perfect techno loops that you could listen to for days. Oscar Mulero under his well respected Trolley Route alias is next up with a third full length album project and one that showcases a different side to his sound. It's textural, gritty and proudly machine made stuff that brings a sense of futuristic industrialism to the dancefloor.

Review: Producer Temudo has been hard at work fostering a moody and textural sound, earning him the affection of many a label in recent years, the latest being Blueprint Records. Visceral yet entrancing, it is evidently the work of an artist competent enough to run his very own mastering studio; we agree that it must be particularly difficult to mix the cascading plucks of 'The Neuro Funk' or the harmonic 'ha's of 'Lea & Blanche' into a cohesive and satisfying stew. But he's only gone and done it.

Review: UK silver fox Ste Roberts is a man on a mission, it seems. He puts out a pretty large amount of music on an array of different labels, all while dealing with a pretty young new child and running his own imprints. It is Faux Poly who taps him up here for four innovative techno tunes that each has their own great sense of character. 'Eliza' is deep and reflective in the mood with pensive spoken word snippets, 'Dirty Politician' has an industrial tech-funk feel and 'Enjoy More Freedom' is a brilliantly narcotic rhythm with popping synths, shuddering bass and a dynamic arrangement. 'Diego's Mad Hour' is a heads-down, geared-up stomper. Love it.

Review: Planet Rhythm is a proper techno label so it makes sense that the eponymous production outfit makes techno that is just as proper. Here they step up with four more direct to dance floor cuts that are filled with all the potency you need despite their relatively minimal make up. 'Altered Memory' opens up with a polished and propulsive 90s techno sound before 'In My Memory' layers up unresolved and rather spooky loops and 'Augmented Memory' has a subtle trance edge that uplifts and soothes. 'Blur My Memory' gets dance on snappy breakbeats.

Review: We love a good record label name and when you already own Idle Hands why wouldn't you call your new sub-label Devil's Work? While boss man Chris Farrell works on finding a new permanent location for his much loved Cristo record shop it seems he's been busy cooking up this project. The first drop comes from Bristol-based Human Resources, who has worked with Techstartup as Floral Resources and The Business. These are thrill gin body rhythms that collide techno and bass into fulsome, impactful but supple grooves with sci-fi effects and deep space atmospheres. Top tackle.

Review: Berlin's Ancient Methods summons up more of his hugely atmospheric and ritualistic techno sounds here for a good looking green-splattered 12" on Persephonic Sirens. 'Sophia's Silent Woe' is a clunking and jumbled mix of tribalism, jungle mysticism and deep techno. 'Sacrificed To Marketplace Idols' has a more industrial and future feel with its caustic textures and heavier drum rotations overlaid with muffled PA announcements. Things get increasingly frosty and austere on the stomping 'Seers Turned To Voyeurs' then it's an all-out white noise blizzard for closer 'Rot & Retaliate.'

Review: Civilistjavel's 1 hears a reissue for the second time, following the mysterious ambient dub artist's resurfacing in 2018, after the late Low Company stumbled on their stuff and somehow managed to gain permission to do so outside of the artist's 'private tape / CDR trading networks'. It would go with the territory, not least since a spate of recent live performances by the artist seems to have signalled something of an 'opening up'. Opener 'Asplenium' has no clear on-beat, while follow-uppers 'Demolition' and 'Subtle Vapors' opt for a wonkier approach that nevertheless succeeds in evoking a trance state in the listener.
