Review: The Hartnoll Brothers have decided to remaster and reissue their eponymous 1991 debut album - frequently referred to as 'The Green' album for obvious reasons. Amongst the numerous editions is this delicious box set, which compliments the fantastic original album (stretched across two slabs of wax), with a slipmat, a 60-page hardback book of photos and fresh liner notes, and an additional double-album of rarities and unreleased cuts from the period. It's this latter item, which includes B-sides, non-album singles (hello 'Satan') and sought-after remixes (Sasha's legendary version of 'Midnight' and the barely known 'Rhyme and Reason' take on 'Satan'), which makes the box set so alluring to fans. Basically, it's the ultimate edition of a British dance classic.

Review: Dave Clarke's Red Series remains a vital benchmark in the evolution of UK techno. Released between 1993 and 1996, the three-volume run even managed to brush the UK top 40 back in the good old days when anything felt possible. Tracks like 'Wisdom To The Wise' will forever be etched in the make up of techno, and for very good reason. Now the whole series is being given a lavish reissue treatment which takes in all the original releases along with additional discs of rare, archival tracks and remixes, all bundled up in a box with a booklet and autographed by the Baron himself.

Review: Sonic Transmutations is an extended compilation album celebrating over three decades of Clone Records. Marking the 31 years - which is coincidentally the national Dutch telephone code - the 8x12" inch box set draws together veteran talent and emerging iconoclasts, transmitting a frequency rooted the imprint's signature blend of essential dance music while journeying off into territories unknown. In a constant state of unfolding, morphing across phases of matter, Sonic Transmutations purveys an elemental energy that stands in testament to Clone's enduring legacy and explorations of sounds and structures.

Review: The mysterious Knowone imprint presents a collection of dusty, smoked out, dub techno journeys. This is the real deal; for those of you who aren't familiar, this label is highly recommended for fans of Basic Channel, Echospace or Meanwhile. Enough said, right? This collection comes in a limited edition, handmade wooden box with 5 x 12"s and 2 CDs. It's hard to pick a highlight from here because all the tracks on here are so damn good. But we do particularly enjoy the glacial and cavernous vibes of Track 3, the hypnotic and dubby deep house on "Track 5" while "Track 8" sounds like Jeff Mills and Stephen Hitchell going on a stoned UFO journey over the Arctic.

Review: It would be fair to say that Box is something of an epic. A lusciously packaged celebration of Wolfgang Voigt's acclaimed late 90s work under the Gas alias, it contains all four of the producer's iconic albums stretched across ten slabs of wax, and a quartet of CDs. The package also includes a couple of other obscurities - "Tal '90", originally included on an old compilation, and 1999 single 'Oktember' - to make it a near-complete collection of the artist's impeccable output. If you have any interest at all in ambient techno, dub techno or the development of the Cologne sound, it should be an essential purchase.

Review: We were wondering when this beast of a compilation would come out, and we certainly have not been disappointed with the result! La Musique Fait La Force, Belgium's powerhouse when it comes to electro and breakbeat - the good shit, not that regurgitated nu-skool crap - comes through with the third instalment of The Sound Of Belgium, an extended selection of electro, hardcore, breakbeat, and everything else that came out of the country in the late 80s and early 90s. There is plenty to be excited about here so you are more than spoilt for choice...especially given the fact that pretty much everything on here is solid gold. Dig in!

Review: Here we go, a large and in charge compilation of head-slamming hardcore and breakbeat acid madness from the Belgian golden era of rave! La Musique Fait La Force have out together a comprehensive selection of the tracks that truly represented those days of madness, days which unfortunately are no more and that have been sucked up the more cliche ideas of what clubbing means. In the days of artists such as Starfight, Kuruki and Snowy Red, DJ's would mix up all forms of body-shaking electronic music without any compromises. Spin your head around this tight package and experience the freedom with which the 80s/90s generations expressed themselves. Big.

Review: The infrequent Modern Electronic Element Series from Nation reaches a third edition and it is some release, packing a weighty 25 tracks from label associates and newcomers across six slabs of vinyl housed in a heavy duty box. Strictly for the freaks! Commencing with some primal, spinal Charles Manier, Modern Electronic Element Series III expertly details all that the Jakbeat ethos of Nation encompasses, be it malevolent raw techno sessions, dancefloor beat downs, primitive electronics, guttural acid freak outs and more. There is so much for Nation heads to get stuck into with the Gavom collaboration from Traxx, Gavin Russom and Darrin Huss from Psyche, Beau Wanzer's track with Corporate Park and Specter's closing mind-bender "No Way Out" immediate highlights.

Review: You have to admire Ostgut Ton's ambition. While celebrating a decade in dance music with a compilation of exclusive, previously unheard music is now standard practice amongst leading underground labels, few would have the balls to release it on a box set that boasts no less than 10 slabs of wax. Unsurprisingly, the track list is like a who's who of left-of-centre techno and deep European house, with Marcel Dettmann, Boris, Virginia, Steffi, DVS1, Martyn, Tobias and Ben Klock all featuring. Highlights naturally come thick and fast, from the spacey electronics, heady textures and hypnotic rhythms of Function's "DX3 Analog Bass Seq", and the rush-inducing, string-laden house warmth of Matthew Styles' remix of Dinky's "Planes", to the picturesque intelligent techno of Doms & Deykers.

The Deviation club night was a legendary party helped by the now well known Radio 1 DJ Benji B. With this expansive collection he looks back to draw up some of the highlights from over the years, and next to a load of classics there are also some exclusives from the likes of Hudson Mohawk. The widescreen selection takes in slow burning house from The Detroit Experiment, dark bass from Zomby and dubstep wobblers from Mala. It does a fine job of capturing the energy and expansive remit of the night, playing you front and centre one more time.

Review: Brum As Fuck is a massive compilation of techno bits from the legendary House Of God label, which is now celebrating its 30th anniversary. The comp contains tunes from some of the most influential and respected names in the niche 'Birmingham sound' enclave of techno, namely Surgeon, Regis, Makaton, Paul Damage, Jerome Hill, Neil Landstrumm and more. Classic HOG anthems sit side-by-side with unreleased gems, showing off the colossal sublimity of a grating yet riveting sound. The coyly named Lentil Hugger Edition is a limited and eco-friendly version of the set, featuring six vinyl records in repurposed boxes from other releases, and of course decorated with HOG stickers.

Review: The Cocoon alphabet compilation is an always timely snapshot of the year in techno that was. It's well-curated by label head Sven Vath and always digs into several different sub-genres with a knowing skill. Now up to letter U, it is still going strong as we dive into everything from the soft and dreamy acid-laced deep techno delights of New Jackson's 'Acid Jackson' to the more bright and intense sounds of Jakob Reiter's 'Il Rotori'. Drumcomplex & Frank Sonic provide more epic peak time moments with 'Lacalute' and Space Dimension Controller's deft synth flourishes on 'Cold Tunings' make for a gorgeous high-speed techno trip.

Review: Part of the early 80s Sheffield avant-garde scene, In The Nursery was formed at the turn of the decade between twin brothers Nigel and Klive and Humberstone. As living mirror-images, they knew likeness first hand; it seems fitting that they would embrace the imitative, reproductive spirit of industrial music. Under the shared moniker, they would subvert the prevailing mood, agonising grotesque military connotations of an uncertain future by working in a new style, "martial electronica". As heard on this latest set of Recordings made between 1981-1999, their sound was not totally tinny or robotic, making use of cinematic and Romantic tropes in near equal measure to futuristic shock-horrors. From spectacular edge-of-your-seaters ('Stone Souls') to operatic apogees ('Listen') and modish drum machine workouts ('A To I'), this is a comprehensive compilation, just as suited to the spectacular screen as for the auratic DJ set - pick your poison.

Review: You can always rely on the Cocoon compilations to bring you a high level of quality control and an authoritative overview of the state of techno around the time of release. This mammoth six-LP set will give you a lot of music to work with, and it's featuring a dizzying cast of high-end operators starting with the mighty Stephen Brown. Each track gets a side of vinyl to itself, serving as a kind of statement for how much faith the label put in each of these 12 tracks. Amongst the best on this top-drawer comp are Daniel Avery's metallic, spellbinding 'Your Future Looks Different In The Light' and Carl Finlow's lithe electro workout 'Surface Control', but as you might well expect each track is one you'll turn to again and again to give your mix some spice.

Review: Finally getting around to celebrating their 30th Anniversary, Orbital here serve up a whopping deluxe boxset of exclusives. Built around their fabled live show, this veritable cornucopia of material contains reworks, remakes, remixes and reimaginings of all your favourite tracks, including Satan, The Box, Impact and Belfast. Jon Hopkins, Logic1000, Yotto, ANNA, Shanti Celeste and - yes - Stephen Hawking all feature.
