Review: Casino Classix is one of several aliases for legendary minimal man Baby Ford. Here it is also the name of a four-track EP that finds the long time UK underground operative working alongside fellow British techno luminary Mark Broom on a quartet of devastating cuts. 'Ringer' opens up with some dark and nimble baselines darting about beneath a dense layer of percussion and FX. 'Hoppa' is then a more precise and minimalist cut with wonky bass snaking down low beneath the icy hi-hats and jumbled toms. There is a warm dub depth to 'Hot Pot' to kick off the flip and 'Beach Club' shuts down with a restless mix of synth daubs and deft percussion over an ice cold groove.

Review: Mark Broom is one of the mainstays of the global underground. The UK titan has a recognisable take on house and techno genre that is underpinned by slamming kick and that comes to bare once more now as he lands on fellow legend Radio Slave's Rekids label. These four cuts bring a more house feel to start with as 'Klashjamz' layers up disco strings and vocals into something joyous. 'Showtime' has a garage slip to the loopy, silky drum rotations and 'HighNRG' throws it back with big stabs, percussive drums and chopped up vocal shards. 'Jazz Ting' is an aptly named closer with plenty of steamy sax notes of raw, loopy grooves.

Review: Following the release of his blisteringly heavy Funfzig album on Rekids last year, Mark Broom returns to Matt Edwards' imprint with a teaser for the hotly anticipated follow-up, 100% Juice. As you'd expect, there's no messing around from the UK techno veteran, with opener '100% Juice (Sampler Mix)' delivering a bowel-bothering, cranium-snapping blend of rave-igniting, minor key stabs, booming bass and stomping beats. In contrast, 'Contingo' is trippy in tone thanks to all manner of overlapping synth lines, while 'Nod To The D' sees Broom blend his own drum machine-driven take on techno with vintage Motor City sounds. Rounding off a rock-solid EP is 'Spiked', a raw and razor-sharp techno throb-job primed for peak-time floors.

It bangs from the off with his signature heavy drums defining each of the tracks across all four sides of vinyl. '100% Juice' is peak time tackle with incendiary hit hats and loopy synths, 'Slush' is a head melter with more warped lines and elsewhere 'Wonky Workout' does exactly what says on the tin. He has a knack for sound design and crafting such powerful kicks that his tunes are always irresistible to both DJs and dancers. He offers up two more high grade weapons here for the second release on Beard Man. First is the maximal minimalism of the bendy 'Loop 132' with its glitchy hits and undulating synths, then comes the more driving and uplifting dub techno banger 'Loop 131.' Review: UK techno dons James Ruskin and Mark Broom are back at it again on Blueprint with three slabs of upfront peak time material that packs brains to match brawn. "Domwen" is a delirious workout that revolves around a mad-eyed synth hook to make late night ravers fly off the handle. "Screwface" is equally ear-catching with its snarling electro lead bending and flexing around the stern beat, and then "Okt" bowls in with yet more oscillating acrobatics to shock out your local techno dungeon. You hardly need assuring of the quality these two can conjure up, but suffice it to say if you're after tough and inventive fist-shakers, this 12" has got you covered.

Review: Some tip-top Transatlantic business here, as EPM Music brings together Motor City legend Robert Hood AKA Floorplan, and veteran UK techno producer Mark Broom. There's a treat on side A as Broom finally allows us access to one of his secret weapons: a previously dubplate-only remix he did of the Floorplan gospel-techno throbber "Never Grow Old". Broom's version is tough and percussive, but also makes great use of rumbling bass, restless organ stabs and glassy-eyed late night rave riffs. Broom's own techno jack-track "Jungle" - a blizzard of distorted percussion and wild electronic noises - opens side B, before Hood offers up a chunky "Re-Plant" of classic Floorplan roller "He Can Save You". It not only features spoken word preacher-man vocals, but also a mind-altering riff reminiscent of Lil' Louis classic "French Kiss".

Review: Mark Broom is the UK's official tech-house don, and has been for nearly two decades. The amount of music this dude has put out never ceases to amaze us, especially for its continuity and inarguable smoothness. He's up on Gary Bek's Bek Audio, reigning down on us with an absolute blinder in "Make Me", dominating the A-side with a fat, fully-locked groove driven by sensational disco vocals. On the B-side, "Fun 18 Mix" feels like 90s era Versatile, or the sort of tune that Gemini would have played, all blasting horns and heavy kicks, while the Mella Dee remix of "Make Me" proceeds to inject the original with yet more percussion, yet more groove and, of course, Dee's natural rawness.

Review: Ben Sims has been busy of late, what with the Tribology compilation and its strong run of companion singles. Now the UK titan is revisiting the project once more with these additional tracks from household names and newcomers alike. Marcu Bruno leads the charge with the frankly massive "Any Given Sunday", which slams a whopping great techno chord front and centre and rides it to perfection. Cadans brings a bit more tribal pressure to "Bite", and it sounds just as mighty. Mark Broom takes things in a simmering, rolling direction on "Loop It" and Avision finishes the record off with shimmering stomper "Rebel".

Sprawled across the A Side is a Broom remix of Beck's "Luxar", a driving bomb that will please fans of Frozen Border and Sandwell District immensely. Broom's own "Redial" appears on the flip, which brings a more bouncey swagger to proceedings, with a shuffling groove riding deep beneath some rather nice sonar bleeps. Top release.

Review: Mark Broom, a name synonymous with the techno scene, returns with his first album in 15 years on Saved. There's definitely a bumper offering on Acid House, with 14 tracks over two discs - certainly a step up from your average dance floor offering. As things progress things begin to take a darker turn, with elements of Mark's previous heavy techno past showing their face. The heavy subs and kicks of "Feathered" make way for the housier "Trees" - an arrangement that is reminiscent of Onionz and the dubby West Coast sound. Disc one closer "Raincheck (Remix)" takes the title of Juno favourite, with its dark, moody feel primed for some peak time weirdness. It may have been 15 years in the making, but it was worth the wait.
