Review: If only we knew then what we do now. Few times does the phrase feel more appropriate than when discussing R.E.M.'s debut EP - you didn't buy it in 1982, and now original pressings are likely to fetch a sum. Still, we can't all be winners, although any astute ears should have quickly picked up on the potential of these then-unknowns.

Following first single Radio Free Europe, Chronic Town, which comprises five tracks of ever-so-slightly-weird, jangling, up-tempo alternative indie rock 'n' roll packing post punk sentiments, set the stage for the band's most glorious days that ensued. Landing in 1982 on I.R.S. Records, the troupe would stay with the label for some of their most critically acclaimed landmark albums, and for many it's this era and sound that best explain the greatness of a crew known for reinvention and listlessness.

Review: Three contenders for disco queen Donna Summer's best tracks ever now get pressed to iridescent rainbow picture-disc wax in quick succession, allowing you, the listener, to finally make your mind up as to which you prefer the most. 'Love To Love You Baby', 'I Feel Love' and 'Hot Stuff' are compiled onto this exquisite slab, with the latter two tracks appearing as their exclusive 12" extended versions, which are much more sought-after compared to the radio edits!

Review: This year's Record Store Day event may have been a few weeks ago, but limited-edition releases and reissues are still trickling through. The latest comes courtesy of Irish giants U2, who have chosen to offer-up an expanded, transparent blue vinyl pressing of their first single for Island Records, 1980's '11 O'Clock Tick Tock'. On the A-side you'll find the title track, a prime slice of post-punk rock, and original B-side 'Touch', both of which were produced by Factory Records' in-house mixer Martin Hannett. Over on the flip the band has chosen to showcase two previously unreleased recordings from a live gig at the Marquee in London in September 1980. These show Bono and company at their sizzling early best, and should be regarded as a must-listen for serious fans.
