Review: "Der Buchdrucker" (Latin. Fypographus) translated means: Spruce Bark Beetle. The spruce engraver is probably the biggest pest of Norway Spruce in Europe. The beetles are termed "aggressive" by forest entomologists because hundreds to thousands of beetles cooperate in an attack of one or a few adjacent Spruce trees until they kill them. The Spruce Bark Beetle, as aggressive as it is, has also a beautiful side to it, as it shapes wonderful patterns in the form of a maze on the tree's surface while it kills the tree. This might be a misleading path of thought when referring to the music of Dominik Eulberg's new record on Traum. His two new tracks are not aggressive but euphoric open air slammers. They create goose pimples when the strings come into action. "Der Buchdrucker" is a party crasher in a big way, again a bit different from its predecessors, more "Detroit", drier & less playful. The record still holds sounds from the "Flora & Fauna" for which Dominik is known for. This time Dominik experimented with sounds from the forest. The outcome are two very different tracks. The A-Side track, "Der Buchdrucker" works directly towards the exploding melody and the B-Side track "Bjorn Borkenkafer" has a strong, classic Detroit influence.

Review: Dominik Eulberg is a unique producer, merging German techno with classical influences like no other. Here, Rodriguez Jr keeps the gentle touch of the original but adds an energetic and lively feel to it. Then Minilogue come in with three separate remixes as almost an entire journey of their interpretation of the track. Highly recommended.

Review: Dominik Eulberg's 12th release on Traum, "Limikolen", comes with two new powerful tracks which mark a change in style! "Die Grünschenkel Im Blauen Priel" for the start is the most stripped down techno track he has recorded for years. No melodies, no fancy sounds, no baroque architectural sound shaping. For this EP Dominik Eulberg aims at the core idea of techno. "Die Grünschenkel Im Blauen Priel" takes us back to the original idea of techno from the early nineties. When "The One Tortured Sequence" was creating worldwide damage on the techno floors, Berlin's DJ Tanith was speaking of the "nasty tones" in techno music and Plus 8 and R&S were ruling the scene. Dominik Eulberg works with that idea for "Die Grünschenkel Im Blauen Priel", but as comparable as it is, times have changed and even his seemingly simple beat is an intricate construction of several sounds, punches and tuned down vocal stabs that create a massive rocking beat. The nervous sequence does the transition and lends a hand to the dancer to jump on and surf the "synewave". The flipside: "Die Alpenstrandläufer Von Spiekeroog" is a heavy beat track with a gentle movement and deep Rhodes style piano/organ sounds.

Review: It's not a bad German hospital soap, it's one of the most rocking Traum releases.

Review: In the last four years, Dominik Eulberg has been releasing on his native label Traum. His previous nine 12"s have made him quite a hotbed for music, which has lead to an international following of his unique style of "wild life techno" To copy him seems impossible, as there is no other DJ/producer who can represent this style so authentically. The influence of nature and his domestic grounds, the bird twitter and nature sounds in general have made his music easy to identify with. The "Heimische Gefilde" (native habitat) LP takes the concept of his debut album "Flora & Fauna" a step further and at the same time is a retrospective of his major hits. Dominik Eulberg's music is much more that just a straight bass drum enriched with samples. Every track is presented and each animal is introduced by Dominik, expressed in a lyrical, almost poetic form. Nature does it all by itself as Dominik states.

"Bionik" is an explosive Cocoon Records release.

"Bionik" is a huge album, out on Cocoon, that should make every dance music fan smile.

Review: While he's continued to offer up occasional singles, Bonn-based producer Dominik Eulberg has not released an album for eight years. It's for this reason that "Mannigfaltig", the former Traum Schallplatten regular's new set, is big news. Interestingly, it's nowhere near as club-focused as you'd perhaps expect, with Eulberg combining his usual glitchy, tech-house influenced beats and sounds with a range of intricate electronic motifs, sumptuous melodies and atmospheric aural textures. There are one or two club cuts, of course, but majority of the tracks bob along at a more sedate pace, with Eulberg offering up cuts that draw influence from IDM and hazy electronica. As a result, it may well be his most coherent and "listenable" album to date.

Review: Drawn from Dominik's "Eine Kleine Schmetterlings Hommage" [traumv67], the Traum massive enlist Renato Figoli and Adam Beyer who must surely need no introduction. Figoli, as prelude to his forthcoming twelve for Trapez offers some hard work on the Eulberg sound, whisking the frequencies through the blender and ultimately stripping it all down to bass driven beats. But perhaps the real treat is Beyer's "Made Eye" dub remix - a massive banging slavering techno tool - big production writ large over Eulberg's butterfly sounds. Both tracks are exciting revisions of one of the techno scene's current favourites.
