Review: Italian producer in Berlin Emmanuel has really risen to fame with his own productions and his Arts label becoming a force to be reckoned with. This time he taps Vincent Vidal and a bunch of current scene hotshots for a remix EP. The relentless cyclicality of Phase's remix of "Huntsman" is a perfect DJ tool if we've ever heard one. French hypnotic techno expert Antigone steps up to deliver the real highlight on here with his rendition of "A Ritual Scene" which will appeal to Donato Dozzy or Nuel's tribal trance sound. One original offering I/Zer 3000 stays on the hypnotic/ethereal vibe balancing it out with a rough broken beat and industrial percussion.

Review: Emmanuel's fledgling Arts label was established earlier this year, brandishing an ethos to maintain the ongoing heritage of High Tech Soul Music. After a debut EP from the label founder himself, Arts have really stepped it up calling on Samuel L Session and now Jonas Kopp as a sign of their ambition. If you like techno you'll probably agree Argentine producer Kopp has fairly bossed whatever twelve inches of vinyl his name graces, and that's very much the case here. You Are Mine consists of four tracks that have their own distinct sound but are lent an element of continuity by the driving and at times emotive textures that Kopp implements in each.

Review: Berlin-based Subjected steps out of his own Vault Series, a label featuring works by artists such as Moerbeck and Sawlin, and lands on Emmanuel's prolific Arts imprint. The mood is undoubtedly - and expectedly - dark, menacing and cavernous thanks to the weight off-loaded by the kicks and dubby atmospherics of "Ambro", not to mention Acronym's stripped and deadly remix of the same track. On the flipside, "FMRA" goes for a more ethereal approach thanks to its starry melodies and stealthy beats, while "Steel" is a hard-banging kina mutant, pounding away like a hammer amid a bed of nails. Nasty.

Review: Having established the ARTS label ethos of promoting contemporary hi-tech soul last year through releases of original material from Samuel L Session and Jonas Kopp, label boss Emmanuel Ashoka Beddewela changes tack somewhat with this first release of 2014. The Motor City enigma that is Terrence Dixon is the focus as tracks from last year's EP as Population One for Monique Musique are opened up for reinterpretation by I:Cube, Marcel Fengler and Mark Broom. If you indulged in the Giant Robot EP then you'll know it featured a quite distinct revision from Actress, and none of these new refixes quite match that effort from the Werk boss in the satanic stakes. Instead they are of a more floor pleasing nature with I:Cube's A Side hogging take on "Self Portrait" a highlight that's reminiscent of Carl Craig in his 90s pomp.

Review: Introversion comes correct with more of his artful techno weapons on the correctly named ARTS label. It is three years since he debuted on the label and shows a real evolution in his sound across the four cuts which make a deep dive into his consciousness. The opener is a hard hitting banger with overdriven drums and a wall of silvery percussion. 'Lucid' is a dreamscape to get lost in with scintillating percussion and sombre pads, then 'Myoclonus' flips it up with a heavenly vocal layered over huge, robust breakbeats. Powerful stuff.

Review: Regent pulls no punches on this electric new four track 12" for Arts. He races out of the blocks with cantering techno drums on 'Oil Rigger,' which has a rugged synth loop and muffled voices building the tension. 'Light Of Opia' is a chunky, loopy, punchy wall of warm techno sound and 'Nova' then steps out into the cosmos with a more sci-fi melodic edge and emotive vocals to bring the soul. It's the standout of the EP and sure to take a party to new heights before the rugged, macho techno drums return on the dark and glitchy closer, 'Relics.'

Review: With years spent contributing to Monique Musique, Get Digital and 100% Pure behind him, Greek producer Emmanuel surfaces on his own ARTS imprint with two firm and forthright techno workouts that deal in subliminal textures and driving peak time energy. The string riff in "Mentality" will be busy embedding itself in heads all over the shop while the crunchy groove keeps things distinctive and playful without losing that necessary impact. "Scenario" is a more minimal affair with a touch of Robert Hood about it, staying firmly on track with looping melodic phrases and making simple additions of percussion sound huge in the context of the streamlined workout.
