Navigator
Review: Lie Of The Land debuts on Porn Wax with an appropriately subterranean take on the acid house formula, amping up the delay feedback and weaving accomplished waves of melody in between the floor-minded components of the music. "Chapparal" is especially deep diving, tapping into a late night mood for backroom beauties and beasts to sway rhythmically to. "Navigator" has sharper edges, but is no less hypnotic and subliminal in its approach. The Porn Wax stamp is a trusted destination for left of centre tackle for stranger dancefloors, and Lie Of The Land understands their unique vibe innately.

Midnight Driver (6:42)
Pulsating On D Mayor (3:10)
Moon Road (6:50)
The Deep Disco (3:10)
Review: There's certainly plenty of sleaze you can read into this one. Ilya Santana takes blueprints of electronic music created in the 1980s and ups the ante, delivering four tracks that are destined to do well on deeper and more chug-focused global dancefloors. The kind of stuff that's deceptively heavy while also musically far-reaching, crank the volume up and stomping will come naturally. Very much in the realm of the late, great Andrew Weatherall, and therefore also one for fans of heads such as Manfredas, Optimo and the like, at the most solid, proggy end you've got 'The Deep Disco', destined to make more than a few people sweat, while 'Moon Road' sits on the lighter side comparatively, its tom drums and waves of synth underpinned by a deceptively solid kick.

Balearic/Downtempo
Dubwise
Temple Ball
Review: Numero three in the Porn Wax series arrives with long term UK Balearic heroes Coyote at the reins on the pink 10". Shadowy label boss Tusk has seemingly been looking to get the duo involved since the Tusk Wax operation began in earnest in 2011 and this two track release sees Coyote veer slightly off their usual path on the lead track. "Dubwise" is true to its name, sending the voice of legendary dub poet Mutabaruka cascading around a rugged mutant soundsystem groove, whilst "Temple Bell" adopts a softer approach, with all manner of rich flavours, lush synths and lazy rhythms hidden deep beneath thick sheen of reverb. The usual limited numbers and no digital rules apply.

Never Stray From the Path
Spooky Kind Of Love
Review: Vincent Koreman's decision to focus productions under the DRVG CLTVRE banner has paid dividends for the multi-faceted Dutch producer; last year's Everything Oblivion LP for his Snug Life label has been complemented by some fine turns on Viewlexx, Gooiland, Pinkman and now Porn Wax. The 10" shaped little brother of Tusk Wax has proved pleasantly hard to pin down since it launched and this pink slab of Koreman naughtiness adds to the label's sense of diversity. Lead track "Never Stray From The Path" chugs along with industrial force, powered by grotty Tilburg force whilst "Spooky Kind Of Love" allows Koreman to show off his talent for codeine addled 303 manipulations over a gurgling beat.

Sorta Rican
MV Look
Review: The artist occasionally known as Simon Rufdug Mcruff Al-Duggleston steps up to the collectable Porn Wax series with two lustful, lingering looks at 80s electronica. "Sorta Rican" is all soft skanks and twinkling keys. Think Ace Of Bass but with added Balearica. "MV Look", meanwhile, is a psychedelic storm where bold blasts of synths overlap like crashing waves on a new beat shore. Mesmerising and masterful, Ruf Dug is one smooth operator.

Dark Funk
Review: Porn Wax operates at a more glacial pace than the affiliated Tusk label which suits the slow, grinding brand of Balearica music the label brandishes. This fourth release sees Mexico City pair Daniel Quiroz and Gabriel Eugenio dish out a double helping of horizontally inclined cosmic funkers as Avanti near perfect for the balmy summer evenings. Lead track "Cabezaurio" has a lilting zero gravity groove underpinning some flanged guitar work and space age synths which would make Lindstrom green with envy. Complementing this, Avanti showcase their talent for chugging, muscular, druggy disco funk on the all too appropriately titled "Dark Funk".

Acid Soup
Daffodil
Review: Porn Wax makes a welcome return with more of that devilish deviant acid behaviour, splattered on a trademark hot pink 10" to let everyone know they mean business. Dawn Again takes the reins on the A-side with a fearsome beast known as "Acid Soup". It's an appropriate name, all sloppy drum lines and excessive FX to push the crowd to higher levels of psychedelic rave abandon. Rothmans' "Daffodil" on the flip is a more melodic affair, but no less intense in its straining arpeggios and dramatic synth breakdowns. With very different end results, both sides of this 12" champion the grubby, outboard approach to production as a means of attracting the freaks to the dancefloor.

Magic Words
Review: Spanish sound sorcerer Santana steps over to Porn Wax for a highly limited marble vinyl 10". "Disco Panorama" stomps with a beautifully sedate groove as clouds of synths cast a subtle spell over the beats. "Magic Words", meanwhile, is a more stripped back affair where the emphasis is focused squarely on the big lolloping bassline and a series of emotional chords ebb and flow over the top. Genuinely stunning. And with a guarantee of no digital and no represses, this really can't be missed!
