Review: As a core member of industrial titans Ministry, Paul Barker earned his stripes in the crossover between hard rock and electronics. More than most, his work with Al Jourgensen brought out the fiercest potential from crossing these swords in a process akin to alchemy, which is precisely what informs his solo project Lead Into Gold. It's been five years since the last album, and now Barker returns with an inspired new demonstration of his nerve-shredding skill as a producer and songwriter. There's no way to separate this from the legacy of Ministry's best work and it goes to show how vital Barker was to that band's sound, but here he's free to indulge his own creative vision. If you love golden era Ministry, you're going to be more than satisfied with this knockout record from a true legend of industrial music.

Review: The title of this one very much gives away what Numero's latest album is all about. It is a carefully curated of 17 superb gems from across the Northern Soul spectrum. Each of these tunes has its own unique character but they are united by the fact that they will all get the dancefloor rocking. As you would expect they are Motown-inspired but also full of freshness and plenty of them have signature British flair to the swinging grooves. Add in big strings, bigger vocals, driving beats and it's about the only Northern Soul record fans old or new need to get them going.

Review: Hollie Cook, as well as being the daughter of a certain Sex Pistols drummer, is a modern-day lovers rock star who dropped her Happy Hour album last summer to great acclaim. It was the latest in a line of superb long players which now gets served up once more in dub form on both CD and vinyl. This heavenly set of dubs is Hollie's first since 2012 and is inspired by the fact she heard many parts of the album in isolation during the original mixing process and decided to use that as inspiration for these versions. Ben Mckone is the man on the buttons alongside Hollie while new vocal features by Josh Skints and Kiko Bun also make the cut.
