Review: Since returning to action in 2016 after a seven-year break, 1990s techno survivor Lee Renacre AKA 100 Hz has released some of the best music of his career. This fine four-tracker marks the long-serving Londoner's first outing on Romanian imprint Amphia, who are best known for serving up sparse, minimalistic tech-house. As you'd expect, there's a slightly fuller sound here, though sonically it's as pleasingly druggy and mind-mangling as much of the imprint's output. Renacre brilliantly flits between trippy, arpeggio-driven, house-tempo techno (the otherworldly 'Machines of May'), dubstep-influenced UK bass/techno fusion ('Gadget', which echoes the ethos of his early 100 Hz releases with James Chapman), intergalactic tech-house ('Dark as Night'), and frankly filthy low-end wobblers ('Swiss').

Review: The Vil label kicks off with a masterful reissue of a classic EP from 1993. 3 of Us was a trance and house project from an Italian collective made of F. Conti, Gianluca Rastelli and Marco Cucchia. They dropped only five EPs between 1993 and 1999 with this being the pick of the bunch. It hits the perfect sweet spot between the driving of hypnotic techno, the melodies of trance and the dreaminess inherent to much Italo music. Track one is a dark but smooth roller, the second has a stomping tech house energy to it and the third asnd fourth close out the EP with two more edgy techno stylers that bring old school cool to any club.

Review: In celebration of their tenth birthday, Selador marks the occasion in style with a four-track collaborative EP, featuring tracks from 3D, Robert Owens, Olivier Giacomotto, Quivver, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, Argia, and Jepe. The opening track, 'Known Love', is a deep, pulasting house tune that feels like an instant classic, perhaps thanks to the soulful, pop-tinged vocals - think LCD soundsystem meets Four Tet. 'Snailblazer', the second track on the EP, takes a much darker turn, with a chugging, EBM-esque feel. Full-bodied and complete with obscured vocals, this is the kind of track to pull out your bag when it's time to really get stuck in. On the B-side, 'Napkin Knowledge' draws on the glistening synths of eurodance, yet still securing the melodies to a grounded bassline and rhythm section. 'Salitre' is the perfect closing track, rising up in a gleaming, ecstatic melody, before delicately returning to ground level. Review: Tresor is celebrating 30 years in the game with a series of special reissue projects. This one really goes way back to almost the start, when Juan Atkins was already defining the early techno sound. For this one he linked up with Moritz von Oswald and Thomas Fehlmann in 1992 for a second iteration of the 3 Men in Berlin project. The monumental results join the dots between Detroit and Berlin across a collection of timeless cuts that meld bassline funk, hypnotic minimalism and soulful machine sounds into propulsive, emotive dance floor joy. The unbridled energy and cosmic elegance of 'Jazz Is The Teacher' might just be the highlight.

Originally from a 16 track, 69 minute release only available for Bandcamp for $69 (or $4.20 per track), the 420 project brings us practically brand spanking new Galcher EP, just under a different name. Review: Humanoid Recordings co-founder 4d lays down another four-track 12" for the label, scouring the weightier and scrapier ends of minimal and acid house, all while teasing out a retro-robotic edge. Only an artist with a real sense of humour can invoke ideas of 'Stupidity' and 'Quantum Theory' in the same breath; both tracks betray the unified whimsy and intelligence that a successful acid house and techno artist must portray in order to win hearts. The latter uses a particularly sticky, hard-to-pin-down 4x4 kick style; contrast to B1 'World In Our Head', which portrays a psychic model of the outside world through trilling trance lines, and the meek glissandos of 'Sowie Lockers', securing an indeterminate but funky mood.

Review: It's been a while since the Albion stable graced our platters, but they're back in style with more of that on-point house music voodoo for the heat of the night. This single is a vessel for the various sides of Tommi Vicari Jr, who rolls out his Czevski alias to deliver a bruising remix of "57 Hertz" by 76-79. It's a reverb-soaked, dubbed out affair with a rock solid rhythm section and plenty of trippy FX tweaking on top. On the flip it's a different story with a similar feeling as we get the straight up Tommi Vicari Jr material in the shape of two killer tracks crafted for transcendental moments of dancefloor hypnosis.

Review: Watergate, the cult Berlin club known for its riverside location and legendary LED ceiling above the dancefloor, is also a reputable tech house label that deals in fresh names only. Here it is 8Kays that makes a debut with Falling Down, a selection of superb collaborations including 'Matematica' with Glowal which is tense and electric tech with indie vocals and with Juan Hansen he cooks up the medically hopeful 'Falling Down' which then gets two remixes. Colyn & Beswerda make it into a moody and deep groove, Chris Avantgarde brings some peak time prog energy and solo cut 'Lyra' has a warm, paddy broken beat to cruise on through the stars.

Review: Eklo head honcho Seuil returns under a new guise as 97.4. Always keen to hop on to the next big thing, with Roots 82 (as the name might suggest) he goes for a very retro influenced vibe. Starting out on the first disc with the rather electro influenced "Rue Des Anciens" or later with "Le Cour Des Miracels" (which features some very dark Derrick May strings), thereds the early noughties micro-house sounds of "Colle 2000" or the funky Detroit inspired techno-soul of "Celeri Rave"or "Savat Yab" too. There are more cool sounds to be found on the second disc such as "Grand Matin" where he shows again his more recent penchant for deeper and emotive sounds. Fans of retro laced minimal at the moment by Binh, Spacetravel or Evan Baggs will certainly enjoy this release.

Review: Back in the early 2000s, Stefan Schwander (better known these days for his Harmonious Thelonious project) released a handful of fine 12" singles as A Rocket In Dub that successfully blurred the boundaries between minimal house and dub techno. Here, one of the series' most renowned cuts, 'Rocket No. 3', is revisited. Like the 2002 original mix, the A-side version is a hypnotic, softly spun delight, with echoing organ motifs, bubbly electronics, opaque synth sounds and new spoken word snippets (provided by fellow German artist Jan Delay) gently rising above a deep, dubby bassline and sparse, shuffling tech-house beats. Over on the flip, there's a dub style 'Version' mix that takes the track further into vintage Rhythm & Sound territory.

Review: Acapulco Heat is a new duo from Acapulco made up of Felipe Valenzuela and new comer Ossios. They share a love of colourful shirts and making "sensual moves in the shade of palm trees" and here offer up a set of cuts designed to encourage dancefloor mindfulness. 'Intellectuelle' is a crispy tech house groove with thudding kicks and enough detail to keep the mind as locked as the heels. 'Gonna Do & Do It More Now' is a highlight on the flip - a trippy synth line buzzes about over flappy drum programming that suspends you in the groove. The one and only Titonton Duvante offers a remix that has a darker heart.

Review: Accented Measures is Kofi Agyeman, an Afro-German producer from Berlin now based in the UK. He started his own self titled label back in 2021 and now its third release - second on vinyl - drops with a real splash. His particular brand of club music is fulsome minimal, with fleshy basslines and smeared cosmic synths on 'Tension' making for a warm opener. The Harry Wills Ataraxia mix is much more direct and punchy, with freaky stabs and acid prickles in a busy arrangement. 'Upfront' (Like U 2 mix) is a bouncy one with feel-good and funky bass and 'PPDB' has a rotator feel with a turbocharged bassline. Serious tackle.

Review: After their last outing 'Atomic' sold out, Acid Jerks are back on Refuge with more of their 303 fuelled madness. They have a tried and tested sound by now but who will ever grow tired of ragged acid house? 'I Get To Know' has it all - the prickly acid squelch, the splintered and wooden drums and the dark and menacing vocal over the top. It's perfect warehouse music. Dutchman Alden Tyrell then roughs it up a little more with his Chicago-indebted remix and Dick Johnson adds a little bounce to the drums and layers in some slinky hi hats for a more undulating sound.

Review: Big up to the Orson label for hitting a quarter of a century of releases. Malata based artists Neil Hales aka Acidulant gets the nod and shows of his love of direct acid sounds. He has done similar on the likes of DJ Pierre's labels Jack Trax Records and Afro Acid but really hits the next level here with hard hitting and turbocharged bangers like 'Heavy Max' next to slower, more spaced out and melancholic jams like 'Butify'. Review: Taking his name from a now-submerged island in the Danube, Bucharest's hotly demanded composer Ada Kaleh prints another 12" that is sure to sell out like the others. This time, the single on the docket is Side B from his 2018 double single 'Roua Diminetti / O seara de ragaz', featuring two remixes from the likes of Norway's space-disco wizard Prins Thomas and Solid Groove's founder and Sheffield's finest Aubrey. The original single is a dark one to move to, a driving, subtle beat underpins the sensational percussion - perfect for the middle of the night. Aubrey takes things in a completely different direction, taking a far more noisy and in-your-face approach with a mysterious twist; Odd sounding percussion and synths fly in and out through the 'RMX' that give it an otherworldly feel. Review: Adam Antine is also known as Dawn Razor, a prolific producer covering all kinds of styles from bass-toting broken techno to slender minimal on labels like R&S, Otake and Baroque. Now he lands on Deepology with a masterful EP of contemporary minimal which draws on breakbeat as much as glitchy electronica and ambient to create a standout EP. The title is instructive - all the tracks carry a dusky, seasonal mood which elevates these beyond simple club tracks, even if they have more than enough presence in the rhythm section to keep a dancefloor moving. Lose yourself in the fluttering piano and murmuring pads of the title track and you'll practically feel the leaves crunching under your feet.

Review: Banoffee Pies is one of those labels that doesn't miss no matter what genre it takes aim at. Best known for its hype garage sounds it heads into minimal territory here with Adelina at the buttons for the seventh in the Black Label Series. 'Outdoor' is a primo cut with judders groovers and sinewy synths demanding you dance, 'Spirit DNX' then slows down and gets all acidic and twisted and 'Double Danger' is a real cracker that fizzes with static. Last of all, 'Own Methods' is a future world where the robots have taken over and mysterious pads lead you through an automated world of cosmic energy.

Spearheaded by Enzo Siracusa and now a real institution of the underground, here it looks to Admnti for three fresh new sounds. 'Vibrations' is kinetic future music that twists together wiry synths and tight tech drums into something irresistible. 'Infinite Function' is another brilliantly infectious mix of tech and dub that makes for high-speed groove-thrills and 'Original Sin' then takes a more spaced-out approach with warped acid lines. Review: Quite the multi-national talent, German-based DJ Admo makes music that pulls from all manner of regional genre variations that cover the breadth of the house spectrum. From the groovier French cuts to his love of UK vocal samples, 'A Visible Specturm' seems apropos to Admo's mission. An instant favourite for us was track three, 'Spiders', a somewhat sinister tech house jam that would be the perfect soundtrack for sneaking, complete with nostalgic distorted vocal samples that sound like they are coming out of a Wiimote and goofy percussion stings. 'The Brawl' is another great cut from this four-track, a downtempo groove for the end of the night that wouldn't feel out of place in both a dirty Amsterdam hole-in-the-wall and an early 2000s cooking show - there's something deeply nostalgic about these sounds

Review: Age of Rage aka the studio powerhouse pairing that is Dubbyman and Dan Piu is back on Sole Aspect with a third outing. The title of this one, Credo, is from the Latin word for a "firm set of beliefs and principles." It finds the duo serving up deeply soulful spirits and romantic atmospheres with dusty house beats as the vehicle. 'Open to Close' is balmy and gentle, with the dub even more warm for you to sink into. 'Fake Action' brings shuffling grooves and lush cosmic designs and 'Lover' is a smoochy closer that echoes Sade. Review: London-based Italian David Agrella is the man behind the Agrellomatica Records label and now for its fifth release, he has tapped up some undeniably quality names to remix the title tune from his debut Modulo EP back in 2007. Baby Ford kicks off with a deliciously deep and dubbed-out minimal house roller that is detailed with wispy chords and eerie vocalisations. Agrella himself then flips it into a rubbery 909 workout with pops and bubbles next to the leggy drums. GNMR goes for a gritty, heads down and back room techno roller and to close, NDR brings a retro techno sound with molten acid lines. All in all a very useful outing.

Review: Brixton-based David Agrella returns after the success of his Baby Ford-remixed 'Modulo 02', with two tracks and a nifty remix of each to boot. 'I Felt It Coming' is a heady peak time track, with Underground Resistance-style drum machine handclaps and an addictive synth hook and all the suspense and drama of a Stephen King horror tale. Domenico Rosa's remix turns that frown upside down, converting it into a perky, cheeky and altogether lighter workout that nevertheless will keep feet on the dancefloor. 'Reflexion Nocturna' (Priori remix) kicks off the B-side with fizzling dub techno stealth, subtly embellished with a smidgeon of 'Funky Drummer' breakbeat, while Agrella's original closes proceedings with head down, echo-set Leftfield-style prog house skank. Not for nothing is this chap known as one of the techno scene's fastest rising new names.

Review: RFXN kicks off life with a new single from David Agrella which has seen early support from Ricardo Villalobos. First off he offers up his own Acid Mix of 'Perro Balearico' and it's a supple, deep and dubby track with liquid synths and prog chords that sound both retro and future all at once. The original is a more dreamy and spaced-out sound for 5 am sessions. On the flip is a more punch but still silky and warmly melodic remix from Mario Liberti before last of all, Gabriel Rai gets darker. His drums hit harder and the synths are moodier as he takes dancers down a late-night path of mystery and intrigue.

Review: Matias Aguayo has always been a left-of-centre sound smith. His rhythms and grooves are built from infinite intricate loops, and are often steeped in his South American heritage. That is the case again here with his vocal sounds stitched into dark wave tech grooves. 'The Tiger' is menacing and snappy, locking you into the late-night atmosphere. 'Nightshift, The Red' is more loose and dark, with freewheeling and busted-up techno drums. There is a sense of yearning in the forlorn vocal of 'Show Me What You're Feeling' that brings something different to the dance floor and lastly 'El Propio Propio' gets heavy and off-balance.

Review: New year, new label, and this one is out of Spain. Tiny kick off with an irresistible hand stamped and limited 12" from Ahmet Mecnun. The artist opens up with 'Jungle Park' which is a party starting and brilliantly filthy throwback jam that combines big drums, fat bass and reversed lines with prickly percussion. 'Act Of Darkness' brings some mutant acid lines and pulsing synths to a loose techno rhythm and 'Panic Mode' races ahead to the cosmos on surging cosmic lines and steely drum patter. 'Junglist' closes out with another ode to the old school.

Review: There sure is an appropriate sense of futurism in these new breakbeats from Ahu. Opener 'Jina' is run through with far-sighted chords that bring to mind the glowing metropolis of Ridley Scott's 'Bladerunner' - it even feels like there's rain falling in the tune as well as subtle celestial vocals and deep, driving bass. and spoken word samples to add that cinematic ambiance. 'Jina (Mahsa)' is soulful machine music - fans of the glorious 69 project of Carl Craig will doubtless dig it - and then 'Nika' rides on a much more rubbery and lovely, lumpy Herbert-esque beat with molten synth melodies and a darker energy. A stylish EP, no doubt.

Review: After four appearances on Lithuania's Greyscale, Ajnkana delivers his first long player Integers Equations, with more than an hour of "tangibly eerie, atmospheric chords", ambience but not ambient-edged beats and dubby effects either destined for play on deeper dancefloors or comedown soundtracking post-party living room sessions. The titles may be blank as anything, all binary and consisting of 1s and 0s in slightly different orders, but the instrumental, slowly-enveloping tracks have plenty of personality. Fans of Sahko, Chain Reaction and Ilian Tape's more esoteric offerings will love it.

Take this VA release as a fine case in point, welcoming the bulbous acid strutter 'Satisfied' by Aline Umber to shake its shoulders next to Calvert's own playful deep house joint 'The Foil'. Latent takes things space-wards on the B side with 'Interstellar Object' before Karaba completes the picture with the crafty beats and synapse-tickling synth delights of 'Loop Da Loop'.

Review: Ibiza-based Londoner Kellie Allen is making increasingly vital moves of late. She has played all over some of Europe's finest parties and dropped, or is about to drop, music on labels such as PIV Records and Boogeyman. This one on House Puff in France is a perfect indication of her sound - classically informed house music with fresh perspective. 'Back In The 80's' is a New Jersey vibe, 'I Know' has a spaced out synth feel and 'Parisian Summer' is more kinetic and future-facing with slick grooves making you move. 'Maybe Some Heat' is a slow burner that draws you into its scratchy drum loops and teases with smart fills, filter cuts and subtle chord placement. 'At The Blaumilchkanal' goes darker and deeper into a shadowy world that keeps you looking over your shoulder as distant drones snake amidst loose tambourines. Review: The land down under seems to be really embracing the Rominimal sounds in recent times. Joining the likes of Lokomotiv and Unic is another Sydney-based label called Thinc who are into their third release, courtesy of Bucharest duo Alsi who are the founders of Presence. On the first volume of Raw Duties, you have the hypnotic and meditative polyrhythms of the title track that's geared properly for getting weird at the afterhours, as is the paranoid microhouse of "Bold" up next - mind you this one's definitely more straight ahead. Over on side B, it's all about the evocative sunrise breaks of 'The Light'.

Review: Alsi are a DJ and producer duo from Bucharest, formed by Alex Florea and Silviu Tanase who are founders of the label Presence. They inaugurate the Elements label here with the Ritmatico EP, featuring three heady cuts that will no doubt find favour on afterhours dancefloors within their local circuit and beyond. The title track on the A side is a long and infectiously druggy microhouse affair, that perfectly encapsulates knackered Sunday morning paranoia. Over on the flip, you have got the tough rolling tech house of 'Function' that's very much in the tradition of the Rominimal sound, followed by one more lean and subtle affair on the deeper tip in the form of 'Down'.
