Review: In the midst of a slew of high-end reissues of New Order's classic material (including represses of the singles, no less), here comes a mouth-watering deluxe edition of their 1985 album Low-life. It's always a bold statement to call a release 'definitive' but it's hard to imagine topping this lavish box set with a 180 gram pressing plus a double CD, double DVD and accompanying book. There are full live performances from 1985 in Japan and Belgium, and every possible remix, outtake and demo version you could possibly dream of. And that's not even saying anything about the original album itself - a true totem of 80s synth pop in all its glory.

Review: We've had more Neil Young compilations thrown our way over the years than many of us care to remember, but only one really sticks in the mind, and it's this one. The record marked a departure from the usual style and was a concept album, focusing on the social-political conditions of mid-1970s Britain. Review: In one of those unique cases where a compilation eclipses the studio albums, New Order's Substance is often considered the definitive representation of the band in their prime. It's understandable given it pulled together all their singles up to 1987, but equally they re-recorded classics like 'Confusion' and 'Temptation' so everything fitted together more naturally. As a result, Substance is a more cohesive listen than many similar offerings might be and these singles remain some of the finest to ever emerge from the UK's alternative music scene. Review: Crosses (traditionally written as +++) is the shoegazing alt-rock collaboration of Deftones frontman Chino Moreno and Far guitarist Shaun Lopez. Combining elements of dream pop, darkwave, and witch house into their post-rock tinged machinations, whilst drawing on their previous output to concoct an atmosphere not dissimilar from their previous works, there's enough unique motifs for the material here to stand on its own. Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete. marks their first full-length since 2014's serene self-titled debut LP and comes less than a year after last December's illustrious return to from on the Permanent Radiant EP. With outside producers such as Dawn Golden receiving credits as well as the appearance of Run The Jewels mastermind El-P and The Cure's Robert Smith, expect another dizzying batch of euphoric, hypnotic, sultry and sinister dreamgaze bliss.

Review: Blur were always the posh, private school answer to the more streetwise cool of Oasis during the heyday of Brit pop during the mid to late 90s. Their second album Modern Life Is Rubbish got them back into the affections of the public after their debut album somewhat turned people off (with many thinking it was a cash in on the popular but fading Manchester sound) and saw the band fall behind the likes of Suede. Part of the raisin for the return to success was the sonic makeover which brought more tradition guitar-pop sounds back with lush melodies and poignant humour in the lyrics from lead singer Damon Albarn. On its 30th anniversary the album now gets a full reissue as part of National Album Day 2023

Review: It might not be as widely celebrated as their self titled full length, but Fleetwood Mac's Rumours is still a towering album from one of the greatest bands of the last 50 years. It was the British-American outfit's 11th and came back in 1977, then just months later a live version was recorded capturing the opening night of the band's tour at The Forum - that's the one in Inglewood, California rather than Kenitsh Town - on 29 August. It captures the energy and excellent of the band, the crowd, the music and nothing from it aside from ''Gold Dust Woman' (in 2020) has ever been officially released before. It now gets full treatment across four sides of limited edition vinyl and is superb reminder of a band at the peak of their power.

Review: Where do you start with a new album from Neil Young? One of the great rock artists of the 1970s hasn't stopped since - much to the joy of many and the derision of others - and here presents his staggering 39th studio album. Recorded in the mountains of Colorado, as those who watch the accompanying film will know only too well, in many ways it's his most significant work since "Le Noise", and certainly has the power you'd hope from reunification with backing band Crazy Horse. "Colorado" is incredibly personal and intimate, and yet also focused on subjects that are much farther reaching than you or I. It's politically charged and socially motivated, while never forgetting it's the small stories that often resonate most with listeners. A true master here closer to the top of his game than he has been in a very long time, if there's justice in the world it will win over new fans by the bucketload.

Review: Warner Records has put together this special reissue of The Rising Tied as a limited-edition apple-red double album which includes four bonus cuts that are making their vinyl debut. It first landed in 2005 from Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda and marked his first foray into solo hip-hop production. The album went platinum and is packed with big-name collaborations with plenty of the scene's biggest names sun as Como as well as pop heroes like John Legend. Those bonus tracks are 'Be Somebody,' 'There They Go,' and 'The Hard Way' which were on CD back in 2005 and 'Welcome' which was a standalone single in 2015.

Review: Permission To Land is the debut album by glam rockers The Darkness, originally released in 2003. True to their name, The Darkness were dark horses indeed, having been sorely underestimated by the guffawing gatekeepers at Sony, who failed to see any promise in the band after being deemed "uncool", perhaps due to their bombastic rock & roll sound and high vocal drawl from Justin Hawkins. Sony were easily knocked off their high horse, however, when the band later signed with Atlantic, after which the album would top the US Albums Chart, peaking at number two. For the fans, this reissue harks back to their earliest hits, such as 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love', and 'Growing On Me'.
