Review: Relentlessly prolific and consistently brilliant d&b explorer ASC lands on Over/Shadow for an extended excursion into his beautifully crafted sound. It's not been a minute since he dropped the Hiding In Plain Sight album on Horo, and yet here we are being bowled over by another advanced lesson in breakbeat invention. ASC's sound has a reliable sense of atmosphere, but beyond that he's a versatile producer who can twist breaks and bass up in all manner of elegant formations, and so it goes on this album. It's a proper d&b long player, with the kind of immersive tone that encourages an attentive ear even if there's plenty of heft for the DJs to get busy with.

Review: Kniteforce is back with a third no-frills hardcore outing and this one casts it all the way back to 1993, when Bay B Kane dropped this Forwards In Reverse album on Whitehouse Records. It has been fully remastered and officially licensed for this reissue which is sure to win it a whole new raft of fans. There is a real lust for this sort of authentic old-school energy right now - barreling breakbeats, raved-up synths and brain-frying pads that cause utter carnage on the dance floor. Even all these years later it still sounds as good as anything in its genre.

Review: Finnish hip-hop duo Bombfunk MCs made a massive splash in 1999 when they dropped their debut album In Stereo. It sold well due to the success of its lead singles like 'Uprocking Beats' and 'Freestyler', which took after a mixture of big beat and b-boy raps for an effective semester of classes in the school of hip bangerology. This reissue by MOV reminds us, though, that there are plenty of greats left to be heard on the album, too, from 'Sky's The Limit' to '1,2,3,4'. A point of pride for the Finnish music scene, it's certainly not one to be missed for those seeking a complete collection of breaks records.

Review: Calibre's brand new drum & bass album Rudy comes in a minty-fresh contrapuntal breath, following hot on the heels of a new white label reissue of his earliest and most enduring works from the mid-to-late 1990s. The sudden time-warp back into the present day proves just how far he has come since then, yet also just how much he has retained what worked, too; Rudy begins in an orthodox liquid jungle fashion with the likes of 'Stunted', before breaking away into impressionistic vocal free-associations like 'The Game' (with Dominic Martin) and halftime reese-swellers like 'Heaven'. Review: There's just no stopping Coco Bryce, who casually drops his third LP of the year on MYOR like it's no big deal. As low-slung opener 'High Commander' demonstrates, this isn't a one-trick jungle dump, but an album proper with nooks and crannies to get lost in. There are of course plenty of dazzling breakbeat excursions to savour - this is Coco Bryce after all - but even then his style has a refreshing, dynamic quality which makes for listening music as much as shockout juice. The low tempo beatdowns are just as incredible, full of vibe and bursting with inspiration, proving, as we already said, there is NO stopping our bredda in Breda.

His first album in eight years, 'Ancestorz' as a title should be indicative enough. Review: You will probably know by now that Detroit's Filthiest is Julian Shamou, aka 313 Bass Mechanics amongst many other names. He is a music-making machine who deals mostly with electro on a wide range of labels. Review: The time is indeed right for jungle and drum & bass pioneer DJ Marky to return for his second-ever LP, The Time Is Right. Coinciding with a stonking launch party at London's Jazz Cafe, in which Marky laid down a 3-hour influences set, the album channels a similar vibe of prioritising influences and collaborators. Fresh from dropping his almighty debut album Firm Meditation on us earlier this year, Rupture roustabout Double O rewinds time on Nullpunkt for two hefty hits from his discography gone by. 'Love Of Jah' sets the tone. Last spotted around 2011, its soulful hurricane still hasn't died down one bit thanks to those pummelling drums and all-consuming pads. The third installment in the Forschung & Entwicklung series comes on grey vinyl and does not mess about with five more cuts all served up as Antal or Rural versions from 2016. The first rides on rusty jungle breaks, the second, 'Conclusion', is an atmospheric piece with a minimal rhythm and warped synth daubs while 'Six Days' is a dark and heavy piece of ambient techno dystopia. The 12" celebrates the legacy of his Speed, Swerve, and Liquid Funk events, and channels the spirit of his radio shows, collating works from Marcus Intalex, High Contrast, D Kay, and more. The mood of the compilation is unmistakable, and not one usually trodden in the world of nostalgic drum & bass reissues, with most of these tracks consisting of radio-ready emoters of the more polished kind, rather than the 'realist', 'raw' favourite of the day, liquid jungle.

Review: Berlin born Felix K is a music composer and producer with a sound perfectly befitting his hometown, as proven here on Nullpunkt. This is an EP of stylish techno for darkened basements - the drums are heavy but never lack funk, the synths are scuffed metal but full of soul and the whole ambience of the tunes is gritty, grey and lo-fi yet they are all hugely alluring and evocative. There is a spooky sense of unease in 'Earth' and real dub brilliance to 'Who Are You.' 'Sobriquet' is a more intense rhythmic exercise with many layers or interlocking sound while a Deconstruction By Forest Drive West of 'Earth' is late night techno minimalism par excellence.

On the A-side, Tommy de Roos flies solo for 'Titan (Back On The Case)', a full-tilt raggacore explosion to set the dance alight in all the right ways. On the flip, we get a true insight into the hardcore culture from this part of the world as sealand's finest rapper KD and local scratch legend DJ Vindictiv jump on for a 'Dead City Version' of the track, marking the first time the old friends of FFF's have appeared on the same record as him.

Review: Re:st continues to be an incredible source of adventurous thinking beyond the structures of drum & bass, and this latest record from Ghost Warrior would be hard pressed to claim an obvious link to the genre. It's more of an experimental jazz offering, using hollowed out notes and whispers of instrumentation, and yet somewhere in the sampling-as-artform process it captures some of the mind-bending magic of Source Direct, Photek et al. Delicate and moody as hell, this is another realm of music opening up and it's one we hope we get to explore deeper on further releases.
