Review: Some of the biggest D&B cuts delivered so far this year, the digital release of "Until The World Ends" has caused so much havoc BSE can finally unleash the vinyl versions. And boy do they sound better for it on wax. From the savage roughage of the State Of Mind-co-piloted title track to the demonic, psy-minded techno bluntness of the riff on "Ego" via the planet-wide rips on "Bad", this is essentially a blue-print on how to creatively develop viciously dark, neuro drum & bass without compromise. Shucks, they've even got a tribute to one of the best actors of the past 50 years. Wave your white flags now.

Review: Blackout Music present the first of several vinyl samplers for Eat The Rich, the new album from New Zealand drum and bass troupe State Of Mind. Kicking over the fence between old school sounds and brand new ideas, they've taken inspiration from around the world and thrown it into one of the most accomplished D&B albums released in recent memory. This double pack lifts four cuts from the album with the Black Sun Empire and Perceive collaborations helping to push the State Of Mind sound even further into orbit. Each track is fresh but with a nod to the past that grounds it deep in D&B, making it worthy of the hall of fame.

Review: Developing on the momentum of the first part, New Zealand's deeply political "Eat The Rich" continues with more stunning, uncompromising slabs of firing D&B. "Bigger Faster Stronger" is a turbo-charged reload weapon to be saved strictly for peak time bizzle. "Long Time Dead", meanwhile, surges us even deeper into neuro science as we're bombarded with an array of relentless melodic leads and elements. Elsewhere we find him hooking up with Dutch dynamo Nymfo for "Put It On", a track that ignites with naked charms before dropping into a groove so savage we've cut out fingers just typing these words. Finally, "You Control Me" ends us on an uplifting high by way of shimmering arpeggios, emotional synths, a stunning vocal and yet another screw-facingly sick drop. Get stuck in.

Review: New Zealand duo Terror Snake and Downie Wolf leap from one legendary Dutch imprint (Vision) to another... Black Sun Empire's Blackout. The message is still as consistently clear as ever: dark, dynamic and intricately coded with rich, alarming sound design. Each of the four cuts is delivered with muscular might: from the warped, stretched midrange rips and sneers of "Def Cresent" to the starker, uglier bass wobbles of "Epsilon" via the ear-tugging dominance of the title track, the only ritual you'll have with this EP is lifting the needle, rewinding and playing it all over again. Massive.

Review: Heavyweight Dutch neuro-troupe Blackout switch back to the tail end of 2015 and handpick four of their fieriest slappers from the vaults for this four-track V/A 12". Mindscape takes the lead with the electrifying seizure-inciter "One Sound", Current Value's "Rocket Science" reminds everyone why he's in a league of his own while newcomer Pythius's "Driveyard" reminds us why he was nominated as Best Newcomer in the Drum&BassArena Awards on the basis of a very slim (but growing) repertoire. Finally Optiv & BTK close the show with the shred-tastic bass riot "Dark City". Four essential cuts from Blackout's ever-developing chaos collection.

Review: Five men on a violent mission: Dutch trio Black Sun Empire and New Zealand duo State Of Mind have been collaborating since 2008 with consistently huge results. Following last year's "Until The World Ends" comes another quartet of hurters; The Audio-on-steroids "Thug" was the first to be unleashed earlier this year to rapturous response. It's now joined by the equally gnarly "Pull The Trigger", the Tiki-fronted punk-like "Skin Crawler" and the metallic techno odyssey "Kill That Noise". Violence never sounded so good.
