Shower For An Hour
Moon Palace
Review: The a-side, "Shower For An Hour", is one of the biggest tunes around at the moment, smashing up clubs as diverse as Hardware at The End, Movement and Swerve! Once in a while the odd tune comes along that has total appeal across the board, and "Shower" is such a tune. Hammered by Fresh, Fabio, Andy C, Bryan G, SS , Noisia, Calyx, Matrix, Commix, Marky, and every other A-list lucky enough to get their hands on it. On the flip-side is a minimal, hypnotic roller. "Moon Palace" is very much like the early TeeBee stuff on Certificate 18, but with a Dutch twist. A truly diverse 12".

Noisia & Calyx & Teebee - "Hyenas"
Noisia & Evol Intent - "The Liquid"
Review: Noisia, Calyx & Teebee, Evol Intent... Three massive names on one mighty release, before you even press play you know this is going to be very special. "Hyenas" takes its name from the way they've made the bass laugh with a rapid manic motif. So sharp it can trim you a neat pirate goatee while you're spinning it, this shows why Noisia and Calyx & TeeBee are respected as some of the VERY best names in the game. "The Liquid" is equally shocking; here we find ourselves enveloped by moaning, groaning synths before a paranoid riff and stomping beats take to the fore and tear your entire face off. Remarkably heavy and unarguably essential.

Review: For those who appreciate the harder, more twisted side of D&B, no label can match up to the stature of Renegade Hardware. It's been some time since the legendary imprint let fly with some wax, but they've kicked off the From The Vaults series to go back over some of the most important releases in their massive catalogue and give the most worthy a fresh moment in the sun. Following on from landmark EPs from Chase & Status and Total Science, here's a VA disc featuring absolute devastation from Absolute Zero & Subphonics, gnarly acrobatics from the imperious Noisia and The Upbeats, an icy stalker from Digital and Spirit and classic 'Horn Track' sampling hi-jinx from Gremlinz and Overlook.

Review: Coming on strong after their album of the same name, Dutch trio Noisia drop this EP of "Split The Atom" with some killer remixes. The original's already got enough fire as a deep and heavy breakbeat banger complete with some epic builds. The mighty Ed Rush and Optical speed things up into a charging D&B worker, before stunningly dropping the tempo down back to it's original speed but still keeping the energy flowing. Dubstep producer ???? forensically takes apart "Split The Atom" also and builds it back up in a manic way over a chunky half-step beat. Plenty of bass-heavy fun all round.

Noisia, Ed Rush & Optical - "Brain Bucket"
Noisia & Spor - "Falling Through"
Review: Noisia team up with tech-stepping neurofunk originators Ed Rush & Optical on the A Side of this release on their very own Vision imprint. Cue a tense thriller movie style intro, punishing drum kicks and heavy sci-fi SFX. Flipping over for another killer collab, the Dutch trio get tech-y with Lifted Music's poster boy, Spor. Rippling synths, crisp breaks and a murderous b-line make this one a stand out, with super tight production - rather reminiscent the Conquerors & Commoners EP but with a noisier (!) edge. This is everything you could expect and more from all parties - a quality 12".

Review: Dutch trio Noisia revisit one of the title tracks from their recent album and enlist some A-list remixers across four sides of vinyl. The filtered disco punch of the original is countered by D&B legends Ed Rush & Optical with a relentless remix that tears through its origins. Dubstepper Bar 9 adds some schizophrenic funk stabs to his remix of "Split The Atom" and Noisia finish off with the demented machinegun rave of "Browntime" which has a hint of Oizo in its madness.

Bad Dreams
Review: Already tagged as nocturnal terrorists, Noisia's next trick is bound to go bump, whether 'tis night or noon. Despite its title, 'Bad Dreams' won't wet many beds - but those with weak bladders best beware - lest they leak a little pee from pure pleasure. Starting off with a skippy kick and solid snare combo, the brief intro builds quickly to breakdown, whereupon surreal vocal snippets summon the bassline from its subterranean slumber. Some modulated midrange slips into the stream to stir things further, developing into a dance enhancing digital duet beyond the drop. Fans of Facade will find its slick funk style pleasingly familiar, but otherwise the similarities stop there. Sure to both stave off sleep and fuel any floor. Continuing on their chaotic crusade as top quality, creative chameleons, there is nobody quite like Noisia, and even they've never done anything like this before. Moody, hypnotic and unsettling, Omissions is opulent in detail, and as such defies basic description. a slowly swirling sonic spectra given substance by its basslines, an eerie atmosphere reminiscent of Residents Evil's impending zombie doom, will probably prompt piloerection in even the most fearless of fans. At least a step beyond the stale and static structures that seem to be standard in the scene. Omissions offers both overt surprises in its arrangement and a subtly shifting sound-scape that is certain to seduce senses. An ethereal mind's eye opener. DJ support from Phace, DJ Zinc, Optical, Klute, Cause for Concern and Friction.

Regurgitate
Review: The mighty Dutch trio team up with Neosignal's Phace for one of the roughest rides since, well, the last Noisia release! "Program" builds from a "Desert Orgy" style intro, full of scraping SFX, industrial beats and ominous melodic progressions into a full throttle aural assault with tense percussion, accelerating drops and rambunctious drums. "Regurgitate" sees Noisia going solo for another sterling affair; a sonorous, instrumental intro paves the way for a tough tumultuous main tune, replete with a reverberating, chopped up vocal which sounds like it's trapped beneath the smashing beats, thudding subs and crushing bassline. Magnificent.

Review: Having made a name for themselves creating the most evil drum & bass music the world has ever seen, in recent months Noisia have been seen DJing at house clubs, releasing singles with prominent house labels and most recently remixing for the likes of Robbie Williams! However, it wasn’t long before they decided to go back to the dark side and join forces with good friend Mayhem to come up with something more disgusting than ever. Oh, and they got KRS One to provide the vocal on "Exodus"! A truly breathtaking intro, bursting with evil foreboding, sets the scene, before Noisia and Mayhem unleash the darkness with their signature drum programming alongside futuristic, never heard before beats and breaks.

Review: In today's climate, the term EP is surely one of the most misused by record labels; we've lost count of the number of two track 12"s that arrive at Juno HQ labelled as EPs in error by thems that don't know. Dutch drum and bass troupe Noisia are fully aware that it means Extended Play as this Purpose EP demonstrates with a full grip of some eight tracks slapped across four 12"s! Housed in a gatefold sleeve featuring artwork from Nik and Khomatech, Purpose features collaborations with contemporaries Phace, Prolix and Evol Intent. Noisia Fans will probably already have soaked up the viciously ill opening track "Oh Oh" and the remainder of the EP doesn't relent one bit with "Running Blind" a particular highlight.

Review: Finally! After the unfortunate leak in August the band executed a precision rejoinder and instantly released their critically-acclaimed second album digitally. We've been waiting for this luxury vinyl edition ever since... Four 12"s, boxed with a poster of their unique art: everything about this smacks of the level of detail they plough into their productions. Musically it's consistently on beat with every minutiae; the Clockwork Orange breaks of "Collider", the rusty robot KO punches of "Voodoo", the never-ending evangelic thrust of "Mantra", the hazy soul of "Motion Blur", the spiked slams and turbo synths of "The Entangled" - every one of the album's 18 tracks is here in all its glory and on vinyl where they should be. One of the best bass success stories of the year.

Angel Eyes
Review: Noisia, the distinguished Dutch production outfit, team up with young Dutch talent Shanodin to deliver a deep, funky roller, previously synonymous to their Drifter moniker. Uplifting pads and strings set the mood as the beats filter in and the track begins to build until you are dropped into a whirlwind of tight, crisp beats, driving percussion and sub bass. Just as you thought you got the hang of it, the track switches up into a moody tech-roller with dubbed-out percussion. Without a doubt this mix of bitter and sweet will be a delight on any dancefloor. On the flip is "Angel Eyes", an epic film score drum & bass tune at its very best. Enter: Noisia's trademark heavy kick and snare combos, subterranean bass, intricate high-end, enchanting female vocal sample and epic strings. The stage is set to embark on an expedition through the highs and lows of uncharted territory. If Peter Jackson had commissioned a drum and bass score for "Lord of the Rings" this is what it would have sounded like.

Review: SRD welcomes the arrival of Virus Recordings to our roster, and also the debut release on the label by the Dutch destroyers Noisia. Noisia have been building a formidable reputation within drum & bass over the past few years and have seen their reputation grow via a series of breathtaking releases, leading them to this point and the Virus hook up. "End Game" has a distinct piano and dark choral intro with a haunting atmosphere which drops into heavy rollin' beats and an urgent galloping bassline infused with sweeping pads. "Unveil" features as a collaboration with Phace, also keenly watched by those in the know as a future major concern, kicking off with an alien territory feel, before evolving into full and thick groove of warped bass and heavy beats.

Review: "Hub Cab" is a bouncing techno-funk groove, swamped by pounding bass, rattling percussion and filtered stabs. It's energy is relentless. "Backdraft" has a more sinister edge. It has a patient intro ticking like a clock, before dropping into full-assault mode with heavy rumbling bass, growling riffs and punching drums.
