The LIVEN Texture Lab offers a wide variety of sound textures ranging from beautifully lush ambient pads to chaotically aggressive experimental noise that will take you to new sonic frontiers.

The Texture Lab uses a granular processor that slices sounds into grains ranging from 2 ms to 1 second in length, then transforms and reconstructs them in a variety of ways, including manipulating grain shape, density, time warp, spatial position, and playback method to create entirely new sounds.

The LIVEN Texture Lab is a 4-voice polyphonic synthesizer that can record 32 samples of up to 6 seconds, generate grains from any part of a sample, and synthesize them using two modulations sources, an envelope generator, and process the sound through different filter types.

The Texture Lab can also be used as an effects processor for real-time granular processing of stereo signals from the line input. It is also possible to freeze the flowing sounds for 6 seconds to add granulated sound effects.

Shimmer reverb for fantastical and majestic sounding spaces

The LIVEN Texture Lab features six high-quality stereo reverb types. All reverb types have a shimmer parameter that allows you to layer reverb on top of reverb in octaves to create fantastical and majestic sounding spaces.

The LIVEN Texture Lab is equipped with a high-performance 128-step sequencer that has earned the LIVEN series a solid reputation. In addition to recording notes, it can also record changes in granular processing parameters over time.

You can record knob operations in real time or directly record parameters to specific steps allowing for more complex sound textures.

La Golden Acapulco Dub Siren is a dub siren style analogue synthesizer with variable pitch and rate, as well as three different wave forms. You can play the siren in three different modes, changing your set into a veridical sonidero or an old school soundsystem.

This machine also contains a monophonic sampler with 12 samples, divided in 3 banks of 4 sound effects each. It works with a SD card (included) with sound effects, but you can add your own files too!

How can I use the La Golden Acapulco dub siren?

LGA dub siren is a machine for creating sounds in your music mix. You can add this siren in a live set or to a music mix. It's connects by a mini-plug cable and you can send it directly to speakers, or to a mixer or other interface.

It's a small and light box (15x12x8 cm), with buttons and keys for easy manipulation. Also you can change the SD card in the machine and add your own sound effects in different formats (mp3, wav or wma). To activate this machine you can connect it with a power supply or a USB connection.

A touch of history

In Jamaica, dub music and sound systems were born from reggae culture. Dub is a music genre related to the mix of drum and bass sounds, samples, to create hypnotic dance music. King Tubby, Lee 'Scratch' Perry and the Scientist are known as pioneers of the genre. The soundsystems are reggae parties with speakers, towers and subwoofers, and an ultrabass sound to feel the vibe with the entire body and soul.

In Mexico, this culture has another history. Sonideros are valued personalities in popular music, bringing the sound and the dance to the street. The sonidero's people carry their speakers, turntables and improved effects to home parties, family ceremonies, neighborhood carnivals and other places to play tropical sounds.

Both cultures have a sampler as a basic tool. They can play a siren, a train horn, or maybe a scream, or just the scratch sound in a turntable, different tricks for each person. You can also add your own effects in this machine!

La Golden Acapulco is a famous plant mentioned in Los Detectives Salvajes, the classic novel by Roberto BolaNo, who together with Mario Santiago Papasquiaro are a poetic influence, with Mexico City as a center of inspiration.

These ideas are illustrated by Pablo Delcielo, the artist who drew the chassis of this cool box. You can find some plants, imaginary friends, Jamaican colors, psychedelic stuff and other vibrant graphic ideas decorating the La Golden Acapulco Dub Siren. This case was hand printed by Los Laberintos, a three color work specially made in Mexico City.

Notes: The Skorn da Bask table top module is the same module as the eurorack version but in a hammond 1590BB enclosure and aluminium panel, it can be powered thru a 2,1mm negative pin power jack, compatible with Boss and Ibanez standard power supplies.

Thanks to their routing options, the VCOs can not only be used to generate audio signals, but for modulating the VCF's cutoff frequency as well. Besides processing internally produced saw tooth waves, the filter is also usable for editing sound coming from other modules. Typical Touell Skouarn, the Skorn da Bask distorts like hell. Primary application: The creation of dirty, experimental sound structures and abstract rhythms.

The front panel of Skorn da Bask shows three areas highlighted in red. These zones contain the connectors and control elements for the oscillators. Each VCO comes equipped with a pitch CV input, a tune potentiometer and two switches for defining the routing as well as the frequency range used. In detail, the oscillators can be connected to the audio or CV input of the filter. Thanks to their range switches, each VCO is able to work with audio or low frequency rates. The pitch input does not follow the standard 1v per octave.

After all, Skorn da Bask is not an ordinary oscillator module, but an experimental sound generator.

The low pass filter features a slope of 24 dB per octave. A potentiometer named FreqaNs regulates the circuit's cutoff parameter, Dasson sets the resonance. For processing external signals, there is an audio input. As long as a cable is plugged into this socket, the VCOs are disconnected from the filter's audio path. Third-company modules, like an envelope or LFO, can influence the VCF's frequency via a CV input. For damping modulation signals coming from the oscillators, there is an attenuator knob. The audio output is equipped with a level potentiometer. High settings lead to juicy overdrive effects.

A synthesiser is a musical instrument that is meant to be played. However, playing a synthesiser is more than just playing some notes on a keyboard and recalling someone else's presets. If that was the goal you could be looking at accordions or going to a department store to buy your keyboard (along with socks, milk and toilet paper) - but you aren't because you are more creative than that.

The Arpopone from LepLoop is a little synth-voice for generating a melody or bass line and a chord section at the same time. It is based on analog ramp dividers of which each one generates a voltage ramp starting from a master clock that can be internal or external.

Trig1 and Trig2 potentiometers set the number of clock pulses.

With the Trig Mix switch it is possible to select between a single trigger (1 or 2) or both (1+2) to advance the scales.

The Scale Step potentiometer sets the number of steps for the two scale generators.
In the mixer section, the two scales are summed together to obtain a more complex pattern. The amount of each scale can be set by two controls and can be positive (ascending scale) or negative (descending scale).

With the VCO Pitch knob, the melody can be transposed while maintaining the same interval between notes.

The note generated by the VCO is fed to a chain of dividers to obtain four sub harmonics of the original note. One of these is the bass section with its own filter and envelope, the other three form the chord section with their envelope.

The two envelope sections are identical, both have a selector for different trigger sources:

Trig1 & Trig2: the envelope starts at the flash of the green LED (bass) or yellow LED (chord)
SB1 & SB2: the envelope starts at the first step of Scale1 (bass) or Scale2 (chord)
White & Blue: the envelope follows the intensity of the white LED (bass) or the blue LED (chord). Except for this setting the envelope length is set by the two controls Bass ENV and Chord ENV. Additionally, an EXT CV input allows to provide an external envelope.
The bass channel is passed through a resonant low-pass filter with Cutoff and Resonance control.

Finally the Bass and Chord channels are mixed together. The output level is set by the Bass LEV and Chord LEV controls.

Bass Bot is an intelligent sequencer featuring 21st century transistor technology. An analogue, monophonic synthesizer with classic step entry programming by the user or Bot computer-generated patterns. Seven unique preset personality programs, capable to generate up to 224 read only computer generated presets by the Bass Bot. An additional 224 Write Editable Patterns can compose up to 7 songs of up to 127 bars. All information is saved to on-board flash (permanent) memory and transferable directly to other Bass Bots via 8 DIN cable, (unit cloning) or to PC/MAC (backup) computers for storage with a downloadable transfer application available.
