Review: Three collaborative albums by The Hafler Trio and Autechre - ae.o & h.ae (2003), aeo. & .hae (2005) and ah.eo & ha.oe (2011) - were released one after the other over a rather long period and despite their intention as a comprehensive trinity, came out first via separate labels. It was as good a collab back then as it is now: we all may know Autechre, but Hafler Trio by comparison was a neat audiovisual counterpart to the former's gyratory mayhem music, erring more on the side of multimedia. Together, their music provides a raucous blend of abstract, ambient, drone and experimental music, with minimal and complex soundscapes, long silences and wild dynamic variation. all adding up to something rather. This comp brings all three LPs together, limiting the culmination to just 500 copies.

Review: Tresor has been a global home to techno for 30 years now. The world was a very different place when the Berlin institution opened in 1991 but it has remained at the forefront of the gene though all its many different mutations. The club itself has been a breeding ground for new talents, dancers and DJs who have pushed the boundaries and explored new realms. The Berlin-Detroit connection always remained strong at the club and it does here on this landmark compilation. It profiles all the key artists who helped to define Tresor, and techno at large, over three decades, and it should not be missed.

Review: This is a big collection of eight 12"s, a poster and in sept for only the most ardent Depeche Mode fan. The collection features faithfully reproduced original artwork and audio masters and all singles first released on CD singles during 1997. This is an ongoing single Series that will apparently continue over the years so that eventually all recordings previously only available on CD will make their way to wax. This instalment features big remixes from legendary names like CJ Bolland, Kruder + Dorfmeister , Underworld and Jedi Knights amongst many more.

Review: Les Claypool is of course best known for spearheading Primus, the twisted funk metal pioneers that put slap bass at the top of the agenda. As a virtuoso musician with the most inquisitive of minds, Claypool naturally explored many other musical avenues beyond Primus' oddly-angled jams, and this box set does a damn fine job of summarising those exploits through the lens of his Prawn Records label. Spread across seven LPs, we're treated to remastered versions of projects such as The Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, Colonel Claypool's Bucket Of Bernie Brains and The Fancy Band. You're as likely to wind up in weirdo jazz hoedowns as funked-out rock music, but in between these niches there are so many other undefinable surprises in store.

Review: The Deviation club night was a legendary party helped by the now well known Radio 1 DJ Benji B. With this expansive collection he looks back to draw up some of the highlights from over the years, and next to a load of classics there are also some exclusives from the likes of Hudson Mohawk. The widescreen selection takes in slow burning house from The Detroit Experiment, dark bass from Zomby and dubstep wobblers from Mala. It does a fine job of capturing the energy and expansive remit of the night, playing you front and centre one more time.

Review: Jeff Mills, the legendary Detroit techno pioneer who has been praised and worshipped by everyone club kid over the age of 18 since the late 80s, has focussed his efforts more on the classical side of music in more recent years. His gigs at the Barbican over the last few years, for example, are the shows to which he's dedicated most of his attention to, and it somehow all makes perfect sense. Although legendary tunes like "The Bells" or "Amazon" are straight-up dance floor bombs, there has always been a feeling that Mills' tunes were composed of something more than mere kick drums and monophonic instruments. This new album, Planets, sees the artist showcase the role of science fiction and of an imagined order prominently, something he's always been fascinated with. The likes of "Mercury", "Venus", "Earth" and the rest of the cosmos make more sense here than they do in the academic books; much like the great Sun Ra, it's almost as if these artists have found a simpler, more instinctive way to transmit the power of the universe. And that's through sound. The price might seem hefty, but this will be regarded as a very important release in the future. A fantastic journey through space and time.
