Notes: The 'Stereo Sum' is a unity gain summing mixer that features four stereo input pairs summed as pairs to two independent mix outs or all as a single combined mix. It is a useful utility for efficiently combining outputs of multiple stereo sources, such as the MEGA-TANG and Jumble Henge mixers or multiple MFX returns. The inputs accept stereo or mono signals (via normalisation) which can be audio or CV (module is DC coupled) and the top mixer's outputs are normalised to the bottom mixer section meaning if the upper output is left unpatched the two upper inputs will be added to the lower output.

Notes: Drawing inspiration from the MMI Maxima, the MMI Helios is intended as a middle ground between the gestural control surface of the Maxima and the fingertip control of the smaller MMI.

Less density, but a much higher degree of patch control is the key point of the Helios, which complements other MMI devices very well, and can be joined with other Helios (Helii?) to form larger and creative control surfaces.

The design is greatly simplified compared to the original MMI, with only two I/O jacks - either can function as input and output, and their interaction with each other is determined by touching both plates simultaneously to form a connection, or in cooperation with other MMI devices.

Available in a "right" and "left" version - one is an exact mirror image of the other, which makes it suitable for having two units adjacent to one another.

Notes: The Herzlich Man Machine Interface - a beloved instrument, but what if there was even more of it? An MMI with more than one dimension? An MMI arranged in a manner of... matrix?

With operation identical to it's little brother, the MMI Matrix allows the user to patch inputs to outputs by connecting zig-zagged patterns together with fingers, fruits, cables, pizza slices or any other conductive source. The labyrinth patterns will immediately connect the zig-zags immediately adjacent, whether above and below, or on each side. Furthermore, the two labyrinths within labyrinths will connect ALL adjacent inputs and outputs, which may lead to beautiful disasters or otherworldly insights.

As with its predecessor, the MMI Matrix is fully touch and pressure sensitive, reacting to the amount of pressure exerted, the amount of skin connecting, and the resistive quality of your body. Incredibly easy to perform with, the MMI Matrix offers new and far more advanced ways to patch your performances, whether CV, triggers or audio signals. Create reverb swells that vary between different types of reverb, use multiple fingers and labyrinth patterns to mix trigger signals into complex polyrhythms or create beautiful chords by combining various pitch inputs with a chord oscillator. The MMI Matrix also integrates very well with it's little brother, so there is absolutely no need to hold back!

Oh, and as always, it uses NO power! But it will take up 10hp of space in your system. A fair deal!

Notes: The MMI Maxima is the final word in MMI technology. Beautiful gold patterns form gradients of touch sensitive surface areas, each connected to an input/output. Drag, rub, pinch or tap your fingers across to form connections, and create evocative and unique performances. Utilize the various pattern densities and shapes in your performance, or create installations with whatever conductive material is to hand.

Operation is easy: simply plug any audio, LFO, CV, trigger, gate, offset or clock into any of the inputs on the front panel, and connect one or several outputs to destinations in your system. The symbols near the sockets correspond to the shapes on the panel, and all that remains is for you to form the connection between the desired symbols with your hand, or any other conductive object you may have. Connect multiple at the same time to achieve liquid, gradual mixing, evolving rhythmic patterns, mixed LFOs and more. Furthermore, touch the pressure plates more firmly or in more dense areas to form stronger connections - in practice, this means a signal will pass with more or less intensity, based on the pressure you apply.

There are countless possibilities here: the shapes make it easy to memorize your patch, and the many inputs and outputs allow for enormous creativity. Eight inputs and one output? No problem. Maybe you want eight outputs sharing one input? Also no problem. Why not patch in an offset voltage, and then use the pressure sensitivity to sweep a filter with the offset patched into the filter resonance CV control? Or maybe create volume swells by patching audio into a VCA, or even an effect, for reverb or delay swells. Maybe you want to create chords, crescendos or chaotic and swiftly changing drum patterns?

Although practice helps, there are no rules for playing the MMI Maxima. Use it upside down or downside up, rack it, tape it to your body or drill it into your guitar and use it with the expression input on your pedals (yes, this is actually possible. Seriously.) With no external power needed, it makes an excellent performance companion for any system, big or small, modular, semi-modular or even not-modular-at-all.

Intended as a controller for musicians and non-musicians alike, the purpose of the MMI Maxima is to put emphasis on your performance and expression, rather than your competence at the ivory keys or dexterity at a drum pad. Let your hands, slices of pickled cucumber or other conductive everyday objects do the talking, through a combination of clever patching and expressive play - with the MMI Maxima, you have a performance tool unlike any other at your disposal.

Notes: The Om is a slim, passive 2hp LPG with characterful resonance. Taking notes from its bigger brother, the Omen, the Om offers similarly beautiful resonant LPG action in half the size and skiff-friendly depth.

In a convergence of old-school LPG design and more modern components, the Om boasts a single -6dB resonant filter, custom hand-built vactrol and no less than three cutoff modes designed to inspire your next sounds.

Although the little brother of the Omen, the Om brings a distinct sound to the table. Do not mistake the Om for an Omen sawn in half, as they will both provide musically interesting and useful sounds to your setup.

Exactly as with the Omen, care has been taken to create a circuit with near-zero audio bleed and the best possible characteristics for a passive LPG. Of course, many of the natural features of vactrols remain, such as subtle memory effect when engaging the vactrol for long periods.

Finally, you receive maximum blinkenlights as an LED on the front panel simulates the action of the vactrol, so you'll always know what's going on under the hood. No collection of fancy LPG's is complete without the Om(en)!

Notes: You want less sound, and you want it fast. You want a mute that doesn't take up any power, a mute that doesn't take up a lot of space, and a mute that accepts three signals. You want a mute that's nice and clicky, and a mute that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Notes: In recent years, stereo signal paths have increasingly found their way into the wonderful world of Eurorack synthesis - so naturally, utilities should follow suit. Introducing the Herzlich PSA, a simple solution to a problem you might not even realize you had. Far from just useful as an attenuator for audio sources in mixdowns, the PSA can also be used to bring audio down to more managable levels (such as line level), attenuate multiple signals simultaneously (like increasing the modulation depth of two LFO's at the same time! It's like having two hands, but with one hand!) and even function as a multiple: Attenuator 1 is normalled to Attenuator 2, so multing your stereo signal (or two mono signals) while attenuating the two signals individually is easy as pie.

There's not much else to say, except that it's passive, and draws no power - and it looks great!

Notes: You've been up all night in a bidding war on eBay to win a prized 80s rack effect unit - you can't wait to add some serious cheese to your tracks, and the sound of gated reverbs ring in your ears. The Stereo FX Integrator was designed in response to my own need: owning several cool stereo FX units, and having no easy way to integrate them with an easy send and return, in my Eurorack system. Attenuate your Eurorack signals down to line level, or even all the way down to instrument level, and get a nice, clean boost back up to modular levels, with this dead simple and highly useful device from the R&D department at Herzlich Labs.

Notes: When patching, you might feel inspired to add an effect mid patch - but how do you audition your new sound compared to the baseline, without a lot of continuous plugging and unplugging? The Bypass offers a solution. Quickly switch between the dry and wet signal output AND immediately hear the impact of your dynamics change, FX or EQ, switching back and forth at will.

The best part? It's a completely passive solution, drawing no power and requiring only an Intellijel 1U row. An invaluable tool for the studio, or the creative performer. The Bypass works similarly to an FX return circuit, taking a signal input and multiplying it to an output. A switch then allows the user to select either the dry input or the returned, wet input, for the final output.

Notes: Mix it up with the Micro Mix, a dual passive mixer in 2hp that functions as both a 3-to-1 and a 6-to-1 passive mixer, allowing you to perform acts of minor sorcery in your modular system (or maybe outside with your Volca and Pocket Operator jam?).

Nothing knobs or buttons here to confuse you, plug in either audio, CV, clock or triggers, and get the mixed signal out. The best part? Notes: You've got triggers, gates, clocks and other such binary signals that you want to mix - but you'd much prefer if they did not interact and interrupt each other!

What you need is OR logic - and this passive OR logic in 2hp makes it easy to mix up to four signals in one, and even allows you to switch any off the signals on or off at will. Your trigger sequencing will become truly next level.

The ABCD/OR: It's the logical choice.

Notes: The Low Fat is a new 2hp Eurorack module by AJH Synth, it's a High Pass filter, with frequency control by either manual pot, and/or external CV with attenuator. It's intended to compliment other filters, particularly low pass VCF modules, in practical tasks such as removing excessive low frequencies, for example when the bass is swamping a mix. It can be switched between 6dB (1 pole) response and 12dB (2 pole) response.

By patching a CV signal to the FCV input it can be voltage-controlled and used musically as with any other VCF. When used in conjunction with a LP filter it forms a fully customisable band pass filter, allowing the range of passbands to be cherry-picked. Feeding in a 1V/Oct pitch CV and setting the FCV pot to a suitable level allows it to track an incoming pitch CV, so the amount of High Pass filtering remains constant as the pitch of the incoming VCOs traverse up and down the frequency range. This can be particularly useful in creating percussive sounds, such as snares and hats, but also on sequenced bass lines. Since it is only 2HP it's a great way to occupy one of those frustrating gaps in your eurorack modular case with something that is deceptively useful, and adds another dimension to the classic bass monster that is the Transistor Ladder Filter.

Notes: Designed for Frap's CGM Creative Mixer modules, the Masterone takes an input via IDC socket rather than standard Eurorack connections, then feeds out to headphone outs, balanced stereo XLR, TRS and mono.

The Masterone is the first Frap Tools module designed to be connected exclusively with non-Eurorack equipment.

It features four separate output sections with different Neutrik connectors and adjustable gain levels to suit the most common live and studio situations (and even some uncommon ones).

With no inputs and just large-format outputs, it pushes even further the concept behind the M module: being a Eurorack system's gateway to the outside world.

XLR Balanced Stereo Outputs

Two XLR connectors (left and right) provide a balanced output with the expected 6 dB extra gain. In many cases, they can allow bypassing a DI box.

TRS Pseudo-Balanced Stereo Outputs

These outputs are very similar in concepts to the ones on the M module, but with large 1/4" jack connectors. It is possible to patch standard TS cables and use them as unbalanced outputs, or use TRS cables to interface them with balanced equipment (the ground is routed to both the ring and the sleeve, for a better performance than regular unbalanced outputs).

Attenuation Switches for Flexible Connectivity

If the two stereo outputs are too hot, a set of switches can attenuate them. The Line/Mic switch on the XLR outputs attenuates them by ~30 dB, while the Line/Inst switch on the TRS outputs attenuates them by ~15 dB.

Stereo Headphones Output with Pre-Fader Listening

The Headphones section allows you to monitor the Master output with an independent volume knob and, at the same time, take advantage of the PFL function on the Channels and the Groups. Rotate the PFL crossfader towards the blue section to blend the PFL modules with the Master sum and check if everything is okay before launching the next scene.

Mono Output with Dedicated Fader

Should you need an extra monitor on stage, or run the whole system through a vintage amp in the studio for parallel processing, the auxiliary monophonic outputs is the answer. It provides the sum of both channels in a handy, pseudo-balanced output with a dedicated fader: attenuate the line level by 15 dB, or amplify it by 6 dB.

Notes: This product is used to produce drum and percussion sounds. You can make 909 type of kick drums- the toggle switch on the left chooses between long and short vca decay. The toggle switch on the left chooses long and short pitch envelope decay. Smack knob control lefts you mix in a noise 'paper' sound for the drum.

You can mix in two trigger sources to create complex percussion patterns. The internal circuit is using logic 'OR' triggering.

This product was refined for optimum sound and response from the controls. Part values were changed from the original 909 design.

Notes: From one of the most iconic names in modular synthesis, the Variable Bandwidth Filter is a unique design, combining two state-variable VCFs with extensive CV control for clean, versatile filtering.

Supplier's Notes:
The Serge Variable Bandwidth Filter (VCF2) is probably the rarest classic filter in the Serge system, offering a unique combination of 2 filters. According to the 1983 Serge catalogue, the Variable Bandwidth VCF (VCF2) "has a band-pass output which can be varied manually or with voltage control. This is a standard response synthesizer VCF, typical to filters used in many studio systems. In the VCF2, two state-variable VCF's are connected in series to produce a total of five outputs. High pass, low pass, two fixed bandwidth outputs, and one variable bandwidth output are available. The outputs are all flat-response (no resonance) so the VCF2 is suitable for processing concrete sounds without introducing resonant coloration to the timbres. Under voltage or manual control, cut-off frequency of the high and low-pass outputs are affected, as well as the center frequency of the two band-pass outputs. Both center frequency and bandwidth are independently controllable on the variable bandwidth output."

Now - for the first time, designed and licenced by Serge - the VCF2 is available as a eurorack module. A new switch has been added which determines if the CV-controls are routed to the first (left), second (right) or both filters, bringing even more sonic options than the original.

Orobas is a dual tube amplifier that is composed of two identical units.

Each channel has two audio inputs with dedicated gain controls and one output volume control.
Thanks to clever routing, a wide variety of sounds can be created. The two channels can be connected in parallel or in series (Parallel / Series). In series connection, the output of channel 1 is still active, good for parallel signals (note: each channel output is phase-inverted in relation to the opposite input). This way, feedback can be generated by feeding back the signal from output 1 to e.g. a control voltage input.

The screen control voltage input determines the gain and the sound characteristics. Additionally, the input is normalized to INPUT 1 of the respective channel.

The Suppress control voltage input is normalized to the input signal if nothing is connected. The purpose of this input is to direct electrons reflected from the anode back to the anode. Turning the knob to the positive does not change as much, turning it to the negative slightly attenuates overtones. With a positive control voltage the change is minimal, but with a negative control voltage you can realize e.g. ducking effects and effectively switch off the tube. Audio Rate Modulation is also possible here and a bit milder than with the Screen CV, but still effective.

The evocation potentiometer controls the feedback of the second output into the first channel. The sonic performance is very much dependent on the Plate Bias switch. The Plate Bias switch effectively controls the headroom. This allows you to use the tubes in three different settings, from fuzz sound to full distortion.

Notes: Module A-130-8 contains eight linear voltage controlled amplifiers (VCAs). Each VCA features a control voltage input (CV), a signal input (In) and a signal output (Out). In addition three mixers are included: the socket labelled "1-4" outputs the sum of the VCAs 1-4, the socket labelled "5-8" outputs the sum of the VCAs 5-8, the socket labelled "1-8" outputs the sum of all eight VCAs.

The signal inputs are able to process levels up to 10Vpp without clipping. Each CV input is equipped with a trimming potentiometer that is used to adjust the sensitivity of the CV input in question. In the factory the module is adjusted for the CV range 1...+5V but can be re-adjusted by the user for other control voltage ranges (e.g. 0...+10V).

The amplification range for each single VCA is 0...1. The signals of the sum outputs have a lower amplification to avoid distortion.

The VCAs and mixers are fully DC coupled, i.e. the module can be used for the processing of both audio and control voltage signals. The control voltage and signal inputs can be normalled by means of small solder pads (e.g. 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 and so on, or 1 > 5, 2 > 6, 3 > 7, 4 > 8 for the stereo application mentioned below).

Notes: Five-channel mixer with mutes, built-in VCA, switchable overdrive and LED level meter. Simple, straightforward, high-quality stuff from AJH.

Supplier's Notes:
The MiniMod Muting Mixer & VCA is a 10HP wide, five channel audio mixer with many useful features. It is available with either a black (Dark Edition), or a silver front panel.

The mixer section has five input channels, and each channel includes a bi-colour tactile LED switch that can instantly mute or un-mute the channel, replicating the oscillator on/off switches on the original Model D synthesiser. This arrangement is more convenient than regular switches as each illuminated switch shows the on/off status of the associated channel and multiple buttons can be pressed at once, making it very useful for live performance.

AJH have also included a four segment LED level meter so that the overall level can be seen at a glance and adjusted to prevent the output from getting too "hot" and causing distortion in other modules further downstream.

It also features a VCA that is integrated into the output section, and this can be switched from linear to exponential response - this allows it to be used as a voltage controlled sub mixer or as a stand alone VCA with five inputs.

Lastly, AJH added a wonderfully soft and warm sounding overdrive circuit that can be switched in to add smooth, tube like distortion. This works in a similar fashion to a master volume guitar amplifier, so the amount of overdrive can be varied widely with different settings of channel and master output levels.

Notes: Lush analogue EQ switchable between tilt and Baxandall high-shelf configurations.

Perform a variety of mixing and sound design duties ranging from subtle brightness and clarity adjustments to low-end rumble removal, boosted low-pass filtering and sweep EQ.

In the default tilt mode, turning the control knob clockwise simultaneously boosts treble and cuts bass. Turning anti-clockwise boosts bass and cuts treble. These boosts and cuts are pivoted around the mid-range. With the control knob at 12 o'clock the frequency response is neutral.

The Furthrrrr Generator has a main oscillator (carrier) with an extensive and fully voltage controllable wave multiplier and a modulation oscillator (modulator) that can cross-modulate the carrier. Each oscillator has hard and soft sync and also features an integrated tuner: if both LEDs are lit the VCO is at note A. Left LED is lit at note Ab and right LED at A#. Frequency potentiometers are ten-turn models and thus allow for easy tuning. Frequency range of the VCOs is 10Hz-10kHz (and much lower in modulator's LFO mode). Both VCOs feature 2 frequency CV inputs (1x with bipolar attenuator, 1x with 1V/octave), one FM input (jumper selectable between linear and exponential FM) as well as separate input for hard and soft sync. The voltage characteristic can be selected between 1V/octave and 1.2V/octave (Buchla norm).

The main oscillator (carrier) outputs the waveforms sine, saw, square and white noise. The two outputs marked with the magic eye are outputs of the "harmonic section" that generates very complex sounds by the wave multiplier and its parameters symmetry, order and Furthrrrr in the module's right-hand section. Symmetry lowers the level of even harmonics and amplifies the odd harmonics (this affects the pulse wave's width as well). Order adds saturation to the high order harmonics and resembles a low pass filter. Furthrrrr alters the level of harmonics set by the other parameters and produces very interesting, partly brute sounds with lots of harmonics by clipping and folding the wave. All three parameters can be voltage controlled. The carrier oscillator also has inputs for hard and soft sync, the sync-switch can synch directly to the modulator.

The modulation oscillator (modulator) has three wave forms with direct outputs: sine, saw and square. Using the internal modulation via the "mood section" the waveform is selected with a button; an additional staircase wave form is available here, but it can be overridden by inserting a signal into the external input socket. A switch activates the LFO mode.

The Mood section is responsible for the internal modulation of the carrier by the modulator. Switches determine the modulation destination(s) that can be activated simultaneously. These are the Furthrrrr parameter of the harmonic section, the amplitude and the frequency of the carrier oscillator. The "balanced" switch activates the ring modulation between both VCOs. intensity of modulation is controlled by the "mood index" potentiometer and the according CV input with bipolar attenuator.

The Wave Transformer is a complex single oscillator with 7 audio outputs. Its method of wave shaping differs from other complex oscillators in that it is not based upon classic wave folding such as is common in West Coast synthesis, or filtration such as is common in East Coast synthesis.

This analogue, vintage-voiced, voltage-controlled oscillator features over 8 octaves of accurate pitch tracking. Its 7 simultaneous wave outputs include a unique Complex output. This strange and novel output varies between a simple waveform (triangle, unless you patch a signal into the Shape Insert jack) and a complex transformation of the harmonic structure of the original waveform. It contains a unique mixture of the fundamental frequency, odd order harmonics, even order harmonics and subharmonics. The Sub Octave panel control will determine whether the sub harmonics are derived from one octave down, two octaves down, or are muted altogether. It will vary from a simple waveform to a silhouette of your cat watching you as you react to a "present" that it left for you on the counter. No, seriously.

The module's Transform control morphs from a basic waveform through many strange iterations into a complex, gnarled mass of audio mutations at the Complex output using an asymmetrical multi differential audio transmutation circuit. You can yield countless variations on these permutations by combining this novel circuit with Hard Sync, Soft Sync, Linear FM and Exponential FM.

Inertia is a universal movement simulator. It generates output curves from input stimuli and the weight of its own motion-that is, its inertia.

Just as Newton described the motion of the planets and the motion of earthly bodies with a single set of laws, so too Inertia brings together several seemingly disparate musical functions with a single, elegant abstraction. Inertia can be used as:

A rich oscillator with 5+ octaves of temperature-compensated V/O and CV over skew
A quadrature sine wave oscillator
An LFO divider
A filter with controllable, skewable resonance, from a light touch to screaming glitches
An envelope generator with nuanced, natural sounding control over the minutiae of the attack and decay stages

Inertia achieves all this complexity with simple controls. The exponential rate at which the output rises and falls can be set by the rise and fall controls. Inertia then follows an input signal according to these two rates, producing a first order and second order output. But things get interesting with the momentum controls. When you add some rise or fall momenta, the output signal exceeds its target in that direction before returning to its destination. With momentum, you can create ADSR-like envelopes, skewed filter resonance, etc. When momentum is all the way up, Inertia self-oscillates, acting like an LFO or VCO.

In addition to rise/fall mode, Inertia can be set to value/skew mode, in which these same parameters are controlled as overall frequency, plus the skew between rise and fall rates, and overall momentum, plus the skew between rise and fall momenta. An LED colour and position indicates which mode is being used.

Inertia is inspired by the Dual Universal Slope Generator (DUSG), invented by Serge Tcherepnin for his Serge synthesizer system. Rather than duplicate the DUSG in a new wrapper, Inertia builds on the innovative, abstract impulse at the heart of the DUSG to create something different and new. This all-analogue circuit is original both in concept and execution, but it grows in rich soil.

The Quad LFO gives you four independent high quality temperature stable modulation sources. While audio rate analogue oscillators famously sound more alive, the living quality of analogue modulators is often overlooked. The Quad LFO has a totally analogue sine core, for living, low distortion, accurate, and consistent sine wave outputs. However, if you need a square wave for a clock, to drive a logic input, or for another purpose, you can set one or more LFOs to a square with a jumper on the back.

Notes: Unlock the potential of the Quad LFO with the LFO Phase Expander. Each expander gives you three outputs that duplicate the LFO with a fixed phase difference. The first ranges from 0- to 180-, the second from 90- to 270-, and the last from 180- to 360-. Along with the original output, this gives you four phases of modulation. These are easily tuneable to quadrature (all knobs centred), but also any arbitrary phase relationship. You can attach up to four expanders, one for each LFO, giving you up to sixteen modulation sources.

A multiphase LFO is extremely useful for building rhythmic modulations, particularly when paired with analogue logic, such as provided by Babel. Further, regardless of the waveform selected on the Quad LFO, the output of the Phase Expander is always a sine wave. This gives you the useful possibility of having three rhythmically related phases of an LFO synced to a clock signal.

Notes: QMS does quadraphonic mid-side processing. Given a left front, right front, left back, and right back signal, it produces a mid and three side signals: left-right, front-back, and cross or diagonal. Then given these latter signals, it again produces left front, right front, left back, and right back. It has intelligent normals for passthrough, -6dB lowered mid and side signals to avoid clipping, and is equally useful for stereo mid-side when quadraphonic is not available.

Rather than merely creating an image of a sound, something that you passively look at, this module allows you to create a sonic texture that fills a room. Listening becomes active exploration instead of passive observation. Ambient music is all about space. But stereo can only provide a passive experience of this space. It's like there was a wonderful landscape glimpsed from a train window, and many experiments in stereo imaging attempt to reproduce the experience of being in that train, looking through that window. Notes: Babel is a tool for creating massive intermodulation, and a workhorse for analogue logic, depending on your use and interpretation of its function. It provides three inputs, which can be arbitrarily increased with the chainable expander (see below). For each of those inputs, Babel outputs the maximum value (ANY), the minimum value (ALL), and the balanced middle value (XSOME), which follows along the centre values of the input waves. What CENTER means is adjustable via knob and CV control. XSOME is particularly interesting, as it has the same general shape as a multiplication function, but with sharper edges. What this means it that Babel will create ring-mod like intermodulation-but with extra harmonics like those produced with a wavefolder, and with an arbitrary number of inputs, instead of just two.

When viewed as a logic module, Babel takes any group of truth values and tells you whether any of them are true (ANY, the equivalent of "or" with just two values), whether all of them are true (ALL, the equivalent of "and" with just two values), and whether some, but not all of them are true (XSOME, the equivalent of "xor" with just two values). Turn CENTER all the way to the right for 0-+5V logic, or leave it cantered for -5V-+5V logic-handy when your "logic" modules are really LFOs.

Notes: The New Systems Instruments VCA module gives you four well-calibrated VCAs in 6HP. These VCAs use operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs) at their core, for true linear operation. However, unlike most OTA VCAs, the New Systems VCA is extremely low noise and distortion, coming in at < 0.2%, with ~0.05% typical.

There's no such thing as "transparent," particularly in synthesis, where the concept of an original signal that could be faithfully reproduced is often altogether absent. In a VCA in particular, a desirable envelope response can be even more important than accurate reproduction of the input at some fixed level.

The New Systems Instruments VCA has an extremely neutral, open sound. The envelope response sounds noticeably fast and accurate. If you want a dirtier VCA, stay tuned. New Systems are in the process of designing a different VCA with some control over signal and envelope linearity.

The VCA's are designed to provide a good balance between the performance and specification of modern 'on-chip' VCA's and the character and musicality of classic analogue designs.

The OTA core of each VCA is fully discrete - it is built from only resistors, capacitors and transistors - however, the CV conditioning, audio input and output stages are built using high-quality op-amps giving the best balance between musicality, character and performance.

The ADE-50 provides a good signal-to-noise ratio, linearity, attenuation, an output level at unity gain at 5V CV input, minimal CV 'bleed' and minimal output offset/bias.

Notes: TouellSkouarn Strakal Brulu is a handmade distortion and fuzz module. The great sound is due to the new-old-stock east-German germanium transistors.

Very characteristic for the module's sound if the feedback that is coupled to the feedback. The more fuzz, the more feedback - the Strakal Brulu 2 can get pretty nasty and it screams a lot at high fuzz settings and low input level. The fuzz amount can be voltage controlled, with an inverse attenuator. Input and output levels can also be set separately.

Notes: Digiverb is a lo-fi reverb effect unit that uses an Accutronic digital reverb "tank" module. The sound is somewhere between a virtual spring reverb and a dense multi tap delay but the effect is quite musical and interesting.

Use the Digiverb as a simple and fun way to add some extra dimensions to your patches!

Notes: Tetrapad is a versatile, multi-dimensional, touch-sensitive control surface for Eurorack. Each of its four pads use force sensing resistors to respond to both the vertical position of your finger and its pressure. Four push encoders and a shift function give you even more tactile control over your modular system.

Tetrapad operates in numerous modes - each of which configures the module to perform a specific control task. Through these modes, Tetrapad can emulate a bank of faders; a voltage storage device; a finger drumming surface; a chord generator; an 8-key keyboard; four independent LFOs; or an 8-switch panel. The chosen mode determines what type of signal (CV, note, trigger, gate, etc.) is sent from each of Tetrapad's eight independent outputs, while its multitude of multi-coloured LEDs keep you informed of exactly what's happening within each mode.

Tetrapad automatically remembers how you've configured each of its modes and retains these settings when powered off. By default, Tetrapad automatically saves these settings every minute, or whenever you change modes. This makes Tetrapad ideal for live performance, since you know it will always power up with your configurations intact.

Notes: Metron is a 16-channel trigger and gate sequencer for Eurorack with extensive functions, expansion possibilities and the tools you need to create long sequences with many variations in a very short time.

The sequencer allows pattern lengths of up to 256 steps, and the number of steps per channel can be varied to create interesting and varied rhythmic structures. These patterns can be quickly stored and exchanged between units via the SD card slot. Metron also offers a random function per step and a ratcheting function.

With the optional WMD Voltera, Metron can be expanded with four additional bipolar voltage outputs.

Notes: Play is a high-fidelity sample player with a full feature set.

Up to 32 samples can be loaded at a time and dynamically switched between using the file knob and associated CV input. Playback modes include one-shot, looping, or gated playback; all with extremely low latency. Transform your samples by pitching them up two octaves or down three octaves, all with a pitch knob that can be free running or quantized to semitones. The pitch CV input tracks volt per octave across its entire range and allows for musical sequencing of samples. Play ships with a pre-loaded SD card packed with loops, drum hits, and field recordings to get you up and running immediately.

Notes: The 2hp Buff is a buffered multiple capable of splitting an input signal to multiple outputs. Due to its active architecture, inputs retain their full integrity as they are copied to multiple destinations. One input signal can be copied to six outputs, or two inputs can be copied to three outputs each. The Buff is especially great for splitting pitch or audio signals where signal integrity is critical.
