Review: London's Yecad Music lay out its sonic intent on a fine various artists collection to get it going, and now it is back with some tightly programmed minimal from Romanian talent Dragutesku. He opens up with a heads down and transcendental sound in 'Criptonim' then gets more zoned out on some silky synth work on 'Destinat'. On the flip, the highly touted Barac gets to work with two of his textbook remixes. The first is a house affair with loopy bass and eerie leads, then the second gets down and dirty with a menacing late night minimal sound.

Review: Over the last three years Dragut Adrian AKA Dragutesku has firmly established himself as one of Romanian minimal techno's leading lights. It's for this reason that Dualism, his first full-length excursion, is so hotly anticipated. So, does it hit the spot? Undoubtedly. Dragut is particularly good at crafting wonky, off-kilter tech-house and minimalistic techno tunes that are sparse and unusual, but also boast tons of percussive funk and swing. These kinds of club-ready tunes form the DJ-friendly backbone of the album, with occasional deeper, darker or even stranger deviations (see the creepy 'Paranormal' and squelchy, electro-fired melodiousness of 'Apus') providing welcome variety. As a result, it's a set you can listen to from start to finish, despite the dancefloor-focused nature of its construction.

Review: Dragut Adrian aka Dragutesku is the latest minimal-tech engineer to come out of the buzzing Bucharest scene, but it's clear to us that this man intends to shape his own vision of the genre. Coming through on the newly found Parama label, the opening "Sinistru" takes a turn down a rather cavernous pathway filled with intricate molecular sonics and glitchy synths that recall the golden days of the minimal craze. On the flip, "Zig Zag" takes this one step further by adding in a layer of dub-fuelled bass that works like a charm out on the monitors, whereas newcomer Herck makes his debut appearance with a remix of "Sinitru", stripping the original version further and ending up way out into the nether zone. Minimal gold.

Review: Dragutesku and Search Dip team up on the second release for DRG Limited, veering away from standard Rominimal fare to offer something dreamy that might well find favour with those discerning DJs who unveil show-stopping moves during marathon sets with the subtlest of tracks. ‘Perspective’ is a truly energising tune thanks in no small part to the gorgeous chords twinkling all over the mellow, skipping groove. With the gentle cadence of the woman speaking in the middle of the track, it’s got all the hallmarks of a future classic for those committed to the minimal scene. ‘Imagination’ is equally buoyed by innate musicality as another beautiful array of melodic lines interweave around the slender beat. ‘Prelude’ delivers an even more smouldering version of ‘Perspective’ that stretches out luxuriously across the B side and takes the jazzy qualities of this collaboration even further.

Review: Dragutesku's deft take on minimal is a mix of the abstract and the surreal if this EP is much to go on. 'Ecliptic' comes first as a vocal mix and is all backlit synth glows, fizzing synths and distant, heart-aching hooks with thumping drum loops front and centre. It is pure passion but also comes as a dub for more late night sets. On the flip is a Traumer mix that rewires the track into a rickety and loopy rhythm fleshed out with smeared pads and last of all is 'Jazzofil', a more downbeat and experimental cut full of weird and wonderful sound sources.

Review: A four-track MicroHouse EP comes from DJ and Producer RWN, marking one of the very few dedicated packages that the Frenchman has created thus far. 'Dancing in Circles' is thought-provoking and borderline liminal, feeling like a mathematical equation at points in its use of dry, reverbed synths and negative space. Track 1, 'Jan Itor', even takes some drone influences in its progressions, the driving beat repeating over space breakbeats and distant techno pangs against an atmospheric synth background. 'Vortex' is more of an active participant, putting the percussion downstage and allowing the house instincts to take over - and the Dragutesku remix sees it undergo a dramatic transformation into a dark goth-rave-inspired cut. Closing off, the title track feels the most 'scientific'. The synth loops and acid stings circling around in your mind - this EP has a lot to offer, allow your mind to be opened.
