Review: Balance celebrates its milestone tenth release with Jimmy Van M's epic three-disc journey through two decades of electronic music. The 'Balance' series has grown in stature over the last few years and now with it's 10th volume, it looks set to establish itself as one the worlds leading compilations series with the release of "Balance 010 Mixed by Jimmy Van M". This triple CD features some of the hottest tunes of the moment mixed with classic electronic music from the last two decades. "Balance 010" shows Van M at his finest and most creative as he crosses the borders of every genre and produces an eclectic collection of ambient/downtempo, trip-hop, techno and progressive music.

Review: After a break of four years, Hed Kandi's traditional annual chill out-centric selection returns. As usual, there's a variety of sounds and styles represented over the course of two tightly-packed discs, from the nu Balearica of Chris Coco, Dolphin Boy (as remixed by Ashley Beedle) and Hercules & Love Affair (whose slo-mo cover of Sterling Void's "It's Alright" is a highlight), to the MDMA pop of Beth Ditto and Maya Jane Coles. The predominant sound, though, is nu-disco and slow house. These two genres provide most of the album's stand out moments, from the delicious build of Henrik Schwartz's classic Coldcut remix to Instra:mental's thrilling remix of Commix.
