Review: Spanish producer PWCCA has had a solid couple of years thanks to impressive techno statements on Analog Section, Koryu and Eartoground. Now he's on Warm Up with a six tracker that further delves into his signature sound. An intense ambient opener makes way for the frosted warehouse loops of 'Unreal Element' then things take a Millsian-turn on the bleepy cosmic exploration that is 'Unnatural Register.' There is a blizzard of texture and percussive noise on 'Unexpected Result' and then more manic melodic sequences on the vast 'Irregular Frecuencies.'

Review: Notzing makes his debut on the Spanish label Warm UP here having impressed with several solid EPs before now. This one has already been road-tested around the world by label head Oscar Mulero so it is pretty much guaranteed to make an impact. It is brutally raw and industrial-tinged techno with hard yet intricate, mental and physical details. 'Protae' is the first to make a mark with its rusted loops and unrelenting drums, then 'Fagus' pulls back to more minimal and atmospheric loops full of menace. 'Ekaterin' is a hazy mix of fuzzy frequencies and whacked-out drums and two further cuts layer up intense bass tones and deft synth manipulations. Artful tackle, for sure.

Review: Rolando Simmons is back with more of his elegant, subtly skewed electronica, following up albums for Love Love and 030303 to drop this beauty on Utter. Alex Egan's label always favours intriguing oddities, and so you know the brand of electro Simmons offers is not some cookie cutter concern. There's an emotive warble to the synthesis, but more than that it's inherently odd around the edges and fuelled by a sentimental core, closer to braindance than typical electro. Whether it's the wobbly and lilt of 'Org Vibris' or the microtonal slides of 'Duelling Parrots', Simmons keeps things odd and engaging at all times on this wonderful eight-tracker of freaky electronics.

Over the course of this five-track release, full-bodied breaks meet intricate sound design. Striking the perfect balance between dark and light, shifting atmospheres meet satisfyingly glitch-disrupted breakdowns in the opening track, 'Voice Note to Self'. Remixed to perfection thanks to the combined injection of Roza Terenzi and Yeates' signature production styles, Kasra V's more experimental original is reimagined via a pumping, dancefloor ready backdrop. Featuring the playful yet classy inclusion of a growling electric guitar sample, 'Night Prime' moves at a delectable, chugging pace, making the most of the spaciousness it's slowed down pitch affords. Another 10/10 release from this rightly-hailed label.

From the laid back groove of "Passing By" to the brooding soul of the title track, this is the kind of album that goes down easy and sets the perfect mood in the room. Review: London's legendary Mute institution goes back to its roots and digs up some of the best work by one of the UK's finest Cabaret Voltaire. These guys don't really need an introduction give the fact that they're pretty much responsible for the rise of post-punk right through to the birth of techno. It was about time a new compilation of their stuff was released, especially one as brutally on-point as this one! All the classics such as "Nag Nag Nag", "Kneel To The Boss" and "On Every Other Street" are one here but the more obscure rarities that were previously only available on 7" are the real winners. "Just Fascination", for example, is one you'll certainly want on a longer, re-mastered cut! Downright essential!

Review: Jan Jelinek is never one to present music without an idea behind it. On SEASCAPE - polyptych, he collaborated with Canadian visual artist Clive Holden to create an audio-visual software which, on the surface, feels like the disorientation of being immersed in or moved about by a sizeable body of water. It's subtle and shimmering, threaded with the cosy hum and micro sonic style which Jelinek has made his own, but it of course develops a new resonance when you learn all the sound has been triggered by converting ranting speeches from Captain Ahab in John Huston's 1956 adaptation of Moby Dick. Just very occasionally actual speech noises sneak through, but primarily this is a fragmented, subliminal experience which will satisfy the expectations of Jelinek's fanbase - and indeed anyone who appreciates elegant, minimalist experimentation.
