Review: Cut & Run specialises in re-editing hits and transforming them into nastier, hard-hitting breakbeat-D&B hybrids. This time we have a refix of Daft Punk's "One More Time", carried forth by swirling, techy breaks which actually complement those famous lyrics pretty damn well. On the flip, the guys sample Pharaoh Monch's "Simon Says" lyrics and its famous bassline, speeding it up and transforming it into one hell of a monster!

Review: Casino Times is a London-based project of producers Joseph Spencer & Nicholas Church; a partnership that is rooted in house & techno since 2010. The duo have released on labels like Wolf Music, Mireia and their own Casino Edits. This one's courtesy of Swdens Omena imprint, the new label run by Tooli of Local Talk fame. A Change In Motion Part 2 sees the pair enter a new phase sonically, experimenting with the more experimental side of the spectrum. There's some punchy and futuristic electro to be heard on 'Ultra Synthetic' and 'Unfold', as well as sublime downbeat offerings like 'Tides' and 'Run Mods' and some swung-off kilter beats offered up on 'Something Else' (feat DUANE).

Review: Monkeyman is a collaboration between US rapper Kurious aka the rap star Kurious George and Finnish DJ and producer duo Cut Beetlez who crafted all the rhythms and grooves. It is a thoroughly contemporary work with glitchy electrons and scratchy breakbeats. There's a heavy industrial atmosphere to the music - an unsettling and dark edge even before you tune into the lyrical wordplay. That taps into themes of indifference, avarice and plenty more, all cut up with some mad scratching and blasts of horns that keep the whole thing alive and kicking throughout.

Review: J CUT-Deep End: Proper roller. Dark dubby stabs, subtle dubby sounds and samples alongside verrrry crispy rolling breaks. Solid deep heavy basslines with a great atmosphere, definitely a tool for the floor. This is the A side baby: Autumn & ICR Yesterday: Autumn, a new collective from the states teaming up With Hungarian ICR. A deep typical Autumn inspired release. Crispy old school breaks, very wicked atmosphere and a tearing Reece that gets it going on the dancefloor..!! Kubiks & Lomax - 'Destiny Calling': K&L are probably the most active producers around at the moment. With tracks out on almost every funky label around. Ranging from V rec till Phuzion, Phunkphiction and many others its now time that they deliver a track to Fokuz. Of course we feel this is their best to date. A wicked stepper that needs to be played at high volume. Syncopix-'Treat me right': Once again something completely different from Syncopix. This guy is the master in producing & building vibe around a tune. Loads of layers, sounds, melodies, basslines and edits all over the place. This has quality written all over it. A lightweight funky roller with a touch of Neuro inspired bassline bizzniz. Masterpiece. Soulproof - 'Whisper in my ear': Soulproof steps in from a more dubby angle. The tunes are still funky and melodic, while the beats are more fierce, sharp and very heavy. It still got that typical Soulproof techy touch, but the overall vibe is raw, rugged and rolling. Physics & Resound-'Starshade': Physics & Resound are representing the Fokuz Drum phunkaholic side of tings. Starshade is one of our favourites. The tune is somewhat different than many tunes around, but once you hear the congas, toms and little drum edits, you're gonna be locked.. Again atmosphere is the keyword in this tune. Very nice and very original.. Stunna & Release - 'Halucinate': Implex-'Shape of time': Spinor-'Revenge Drum Origins -16th Chapter.' This 4th disc includes the Fokuz all time favorites. Wicked deep tunes that are mainly made for listening pleasure and early DJ sets. Implex 'Shape of time', a breathtaking journey with great bleeps, peeps and melodies and a musical hook that will stick to your mind for ever.. 'Drum origins' follows this same flow. Just a great track with great edits, great music and rolling beats. Spinor delivered a very stripped down minimal Dbrige sort of tune. Its all about the vibe, and the vibe is strong. Techy, monotonous but it works. Last but not least we got Stunna & Release with a track that sort of comes from different markets. It will appeal to the Drum phunk crew, bit of dubbyness , but it will also be appreciated by the more musical and funky D&B.

Review: Germany's Times Are Ruff have managed to keep themselves in the shadows of house music over the last three years, but they're personalised brand of house music has certainly not gone unnoticed over here at the Juno HQ. For their eighth release, the crew return with four certified floor fillers, a bunch of swinging Chicago-flavoured licks for the ultimate tool use. From "Cut5" to "Cut8", the beats are grainy and stomping, the percussion is rickety and the basslines are nothing but PHATness throughout so get copping and start churning. Badboy 12".
