Review: DJOKO's 'DJOKOCAMP' series was established to showcase the cheekier end of his work, usually sample heavy edits-not-edits created for his DJ sets. That's certainly what's on offer on the series' second 12". Opener 'Be Real', for example, combines a rolling, bumping house beat and a chunky bassline with bonus bongos and extensive, effects-laden snippets from Alicia Myers' dewy-eyed, gospel-influenced classic 'I Want To Thank You'. While guaranteed to get the party going, the track that follows, 'Get Sexy' - a wonderfully warm, tactile, loved-up deep house bumper built around rubbery disco bass, snappy drum machine beats, spacey synth stabs and hip-house vocal snippets - is arguably stronger. Elsewhere, 'Duke' is a languid house shuffler peppered with beautiful piano motifs, while Nikita Sokov hook-up 'Moscow Mule' is a deep, dreamy, thickset deep house treat.

Review: As with previous editions of DJ Kicks, this double vinyl accompaniment to Nina Kraviz's debut on the long running mix series does not feature all 29 tracks from the fully mixed CD edition. Instead some eight highlights have been chosen to complement those that featured on The Deviant Octopus, a double pack that opened proceedings on the Siberian artist's new label endeavour ????. There is a healthy amount of fine electronic music to enjoy on these two vinyl platters, opening with "Mystery" from Miss Kraviz herself and taking in contributions from Plaid, Armando, DJ Bone, and Polygon Window. The dons at K7! have even thrown in a copy of the mix on CD too. Kraviz completists will be all over this.

Review: There's a loose concept surrounding the latest double EP-come-compilation from Nina Kraviz's TRIP label. Fundamentally this is a collection that mixes "essential gems" from the label's catalogue with a wealth of previously unreleased material. Kraviz's own "Opa", a fiendishly leftfield techno assault that's as skewed and out-there as they come, is undoubtedly amongst the highlights, but it's not alone. Check, in particular, the hectic, mind-altering braindance business of Biogen's "Hexagraphic", the speaker-busting loop techno intensity of "Grasshunter" by Exos, and the utter insanity of Bjarki's "3-1 Tap Lush", whose bizarre and tipsy manipulated non-verbal vocal sounds are capable of inducing travel sickness even in seasoned travelers.
