Review: For those in the know, Marek Hemmann's 2009 album In Between is a mini classic of the era. It encapsulates the prevalent minimal styles of the day - a time when, in many eyes, the genre was at its creative height. Dubby undercurrents, stripped-back but effective drums, moody synth work and a range of different rhythms all make this a great album either digested as separate tracks for DJing or as a start-to-finish whole. The colourful melodies and weird and wonderful samples of 'Yvette' are a clear highlight, but there are plenty of standouts here.

Review: Hospital Records has decided to close down Med School after 13 years, an imprint it used to offer up a mixture of more experimental fare and tracks from fast-rising artists. "Med School: Graduation" is the label's last hurrah - a triple-vinyl set with bonus 10" dubplate containing tons of previously unheard material from many of the artists who passed through the imprint over the years. It's a fittingly impressive and expansive finale, with highlights appearing at a rate of knots. We're particularly enjoying the slick jazziness of Bop's "Magic.gif", the dubstep-goes-tribal insanity of Royalston's insane (and insanely good) "Mark's Shibari Groove", the soundscape D&B shimmer of Etherwood's "Nowhere To Go But Everywhere" and the punishing peak-time brilliance of S.P.Y's "Black Flag VIP".

Review: Seventh instalment of the series dedicated to Brazilian sounds and their various contaminations, where as usual particular attention is paid to emerging artists. The great success of the series' previous volumes has contributed to create a huge interest for Brazilian modern music around the World today. The selection opens with an unreleased track from Kaleido (aka DJ Ramilson Maia and Janaina Lima, formerly Kaleidoscopio), here produced by one of the hottest new Japanese artists: I-Dep. It's followed by the debut track by Nova 40, a new IRMA project produced by Ohm Guru with singers Silvia Donati (Arcoiris, Bossa Nostra) and Nelson Machado. Also included several Japanese productions: Karen Aoki, with a jazz standard; Cargo, fresh and promising nu jazz producers; Bossa Bossa, a new team revisiting the legendary 'Aquarela Do Brasil' in a house'n'bossa mood; M-Swift, new Japanese talent based in London, currently completing his debut album for IRMA. From Brazil we have: Jason Bralli, featuring singer Erika Morise; Cris Delanno, remixed by S-Tone Inc; Ithamara Koorax, today's most famous Brazilian Jazz singer, nominated many times over the past 10 years by US Jazz bible Down Beat magazine as one of the best voices in the World. Her new album 'Brazilian Butterfly' is about to be released by IRMA. From the UK hail Nu Bossa combo Thumbtribe. From Italy come Nu Braz, the new Bossa Lounge project by Emmanuele Cucchi for IRMA, here remixed by Soulstance (aka Lo Greco Bros); 12 Fingers with a percussive mix of their 'Reis E Piratas'; new Roman team Cafè Safado, featuring Brazilian singer Luna A. Whibbe; Arcoiris with an unreleased psychedelic jazz composition 'Arcoiris Underground'.
