Review: The already cult Chicago jazz label International Anthem is back with another essential long player, this time from Carlos Nino & Friends. NiNo like most artists on this label gigs often and plays live in Chicago to plenty of happy fans. Apparently they often ask if he is a shaman such are his magical musical skills. He calls his sound Energetic Space Music and it finds him getting the best out of his collaborators who whom he improvises without preconceived ideas of what might come out the other side. In many ways, Talulah Gosh are the ultimate tale of youth misunderstood in band form - so much talent and so many ideas, but often delivered in such an uncompromising and unapologetic way many people simply tuned out, or walked away, without taking the time to actually listen to what was being said.

Now's the chance to do something about that if you were one of those naysayers. Was It Just A Dream? is a no-holds-barred collection of singles from the outfit's back catalogue, which makes one thing clear. If you're looking for a slightly trippy combination of 1960s girl groups, The Ramones and New Wave, this is it. You can't help but wonder if the troupe - who only stayed together for two years, disbanding in 1988 - might have enjoyed more success in today's irony-filled, remake loving world.

Review: Decades after he died, pioneering rapper Christopher Wallace aka Biggie aka B.I.G remains a hip hop giant, not least for us here at Juno HQ. He had the flow, the character, the lyrics, and showed all of it on his masterclass album The Notorious BIG. It is now getting a well deserved reissue on double vinyl, with all the original tunes included. There are uber-hits like the ubiquitous 'Juicy', tracks that make astute social commentaries about the black experience such as 'Everyday Struggle' and then some darn right killer grooves like 'One More Chance' and 'Big Poppa.' RIP to the greatest to ever do it.

Next up to get the luxury treatment is Chet Baker who followed his hugely successful Sings album with this, Sings And Plays, which finds the great trumpeter showcasing the other side of his skills. He was backed for the recordings - produced by Richard Bock - by a quartet including pianist Russ Freeman, Bud Shank on flute and strings and arrangements from Frank Campo, Johnny Mandel, and Marty Paich. Eccentric Soul: The Saadia Label is collection of 15 of Saadia's funkiest and most deep and soulful jams from the years 1968 to 1970. It comes from talented names like Pearl Dowell, Joey Gilmore, Little Beaver and Frank Williams' Rocketeers and is a great source of gold for Das but also sample diggers. It is 20 years since the label did their first volume of the long-running Eccentric Soul series but all these years later it still bangs.
