Review: Kevin Saunderson's Inner City project is now a family affair, with his son and "creative protege" Dantiez joining him in the studio. The first fruits of their studio partnership can be heard on this 12", which features some suitably strong, memorable vocals by Steffanie Christi'an. Carl Craig steals the show with a bouncy, piano-heavy edit that's capable of sending shivers down the spines of even the most hard-to-please dancers. The two Inner City mixes are pretty tasty, too. There's a fine Dub Mix that strips out much of the vocal to emphasize the killer piano riffs and a gospel style organ line, while the flipside Darkside Mix is a superb chunk of woozy, late night Detroit futurism rich in elongated, Reese style bass, trippy electronics and crunchy drum machine percussion.
Inner City - "The Praise Celebration" (Rod Layman mix)
Rachel Wallace/Austin/Phuture Assassins/Timebase/Q Bass/Kromozone/Sonz Of A Loop Da Loop Era/Runtings/M&M - "Suburban Base: Sound Of The Phuture" (The Berserker remix)
Alexander O'Neal - "Greatest Hits" (The Commission mix)
Review: Two phat remixes of the awesome track, "Pennies From Heaven", originally by Inner City (aka Kevin Saunderson and Paris Grey). Both Mark Williamson and MYNC Project update the track into a big-room house affair, taking full use of the amazing vocal.
