Review: Weapons Of Desire kick off what is presumably a new series of various artist releases under the Machine Funk banger, and do so with a right royal collection of dance music punks. Drvg Cvltvre, for example, is a Dutchman who makes dirt, sleaze and noise an art form in his techno tracks, and the brilliantly brainless 'I Hate Thinking' is proof of that. UK hardware lover Perseus Traxx also brings plenty of lo-fi brilliance to his 'Hi-Tech', while Rennie Foster's 'Deposition Acid' achieves some hypnotic brilliance with the 303. Add in more rough and ready excellence from Type-303 and Bad Outfit and you have a hefty EP.

Review: B. B. & Q. Band (Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens Band), was an Italian-American post-disco band. A studio project created by the late Jacques Fred Petrus after the success of his main project Change with Mauro Malvasi. The band formed in Bologna in 1979, disbanded in 1987 and featured members such as Kevin Robinson, Paris Ford, Chielli Minucci and Curtis Hairston among others. Review: Since midway through 2019, High Contrast has been teasing Notes From The Underground via a series of singles that teased a new direction, one steeped in misty-eyed '90s rave nostalgia, loved-up samples drawn from classic hardcore and jungle productions, and a giddy sense of colourful escapism. He continues in that vein on Notes From The Underground, a wholehearted tribute to British dance music's past full of crunchy hardcore and jungle breaks, booming basslines, energetic piano stabs and rushing riffs. It's a hugely enjoyable and excitable concoction that combines knowing nods to underground anthems of old with rave's freewheeling sense of adventure and all manner of notable vocal contributions (Kate Tempest, UK Apache, Anita Blay, Andy Sulieman and LOWES all feature). File under "full-throttle fun".
