Review: You'd be hard-pressed to find a collection of euro house and dance music more chock-full of hits than this. In the vein of the early 90s dance compilations, Music On Vinyl gathers two discs packed with landmark dance records and massively popular crossover tracks like Haddaway's 'What Is Love', 2 Unlimited's sports arena classic No Limit', Snap!'s timeless 'Rhythm Is A Dancer' and the worldwide hit 'Pump Up The Jam' by Technotronic. The great thing about this release is the inclusion of many other lesser known but memorable gems like T-Spoon 'Sex On The Beach' and Twenty 4 Seven's 'Slave To The Music'. A whopping 27 tracks in total to take you back to the days when dance music owned the airwaves and the clubs.

Review: As the matter-or-fact title makes clear, this tidy compilation rounds up period remixes of tracks from Daft Punk's sensational debut album, Homework. Some are well-known and celebrated, others less so, but they all add a fresh spin to familiar favourites. Naturally, some of their French contemporaries are involved - see I:Cube's minor-key heavy, hard-wired French Touch take on 'Around The World', and Motorbass's pleasingly weird, heavy and funk-fuelled re-wire of the same track - as well as fellow Europeans Slam and Ian Pooley, but the majority of the reworks come from top American talents. Roger Sanchez and Junior Sanchez deliver a boisterous, all-action revision of 'Revolution 909', DJ Sneak drops a typically weighty and bombastic remix of 'Burnin', and Masters At Work serve up a suite of revisions of 'Around The World' that naturally all hit the spot.

Spread over five CDs, we're taken on a sweat-slicked thrill ride through hi-nrg, disco, proto house and synth-pop taking in seminal classics and deep cuts alike. There are plenty of perennial favourites contained within, from The Pointer Sisters' 'Jump (For My Love)' and Soft Cell's 'Memorabilia' through to S'Express' massive chart dance banger 'Theme From S'Express', and you can be sure the compilers have taken care to source the real deal 12" mixes that bring out the best in a track. With plenty of lesser known surprises and a frankly head-spinning amount of knockout tracks, this is an essential document of the outsized impact queer club culture had on electronic music in the 80s and early 90s.
