Review: First released in 1999 through the titanic Swing City Records, 'Cada Vez' was a fond and well-played cut on the label, one which showed off and continues to flaunt the pan-Latin supergroup's talents. Though they (Adres Lafone, Liliana Chacion, Davide Giovaninni) were at their zenith a four-or-five piece band, most of Negrocan's releases were primed for the club. This release via Groovin Italy hears two fresh remixes from Grant Nelson and Avant Garde, and brings contemporary weight to their original deep-south Latin house forte.

Review: Vinyl Magic is releasing multiple compilations dedicated to Ennio Morricone in various movies genres. Like the name of this suggests, this edition collects key pieces he composed for various Avante Garde movies. Ennio was a magician at marrying his cinematic pieces to film like no other in motion picture history. Segments included are from A Pure Formality and Sacco & Vanzetti as well as other Italian released only movies like L'ultimo Uomo Di Sara and Citta Violenta. Fans of rare Ennio Morricone work will be eagerly excited about this opportunity to hear and have work for these various movies done from different decades through his very productive career. This vinyl comes on clear acid green complete with informational insert inside.

Review: Radio Slave's Rekids welcomes a Detroit house master in Monty Luke for what is a comprehensive excursion into deep house across nine exquisite new cuts. Dub, techno and more all help colour these soundwaves and first up is the shimmering electro rhythm of '40 Acres & A Terabyte' while 'Nightdubbing' gets more zoned out and smooth as it comes alive with shimmering synths over rolling beats. Elsewhere are more grinding groves like 'Starstorms' which recalls the early work of Carl Craig and 'Avant-Garde Dance Hall' is a deft dub workout.

Review: Back in 1981, London-based Anthony Waites decided to create some "poetic, subversive pop music" with borrowed synthesizers in friends' bedroom studios. The result was a sole, self-released seven-inch single under the Scenes De La Boheme alias, a record that has long been a cult item amongst collectors. "Standing In The Rain", his first ever album, includes those two tracks - the bubbly brilliance of "Zara" and the lo-fi, beat-free, guitar-driven shuffle of "The Tale Of The Butterfly" - alongside four others recorded in the same period. It's an impressively off-kilter and atmospheric set, with the early Human League style hum of "Leap Into The Void" and the icy shuffle of "A City Such As This" standing out.

Review: If there's a list of bands to get - or be - excited about to hand, then add Dummy to it. The Los Angeles crew formed in late-2018, and had a solid run of things through to the great pandemic pause, and between then and now have evolved pretty quickly to get to where they are. All the trappings of a group deserving of cut status, although sadly perhaps not huge commercial success (then again, who is these days?), attempting to define their sound isn't easy.

As this vinyl-only outing proves. Comprising two EPs - logically entitled 'EP1' and 'EP2', both released in 2020 - this is very dense stuff indeed. Veering from the blissful, earthy ambience of 'Second Contact', to sci-fi synth refrains on 'Touch the Chimes', and Pixies-style garage rock chaos with 'Slacker Mask', we implore you not to pass these over.
