Ferramenta EP
Ferramenta EP (limited 12")
Cat: POLEGROUP 071. Rel: 18 Jan 24

Hard Techno
Regra (5:45)
Ferramenta (5:43)
Amarante 9am (5:41)
Nota (5:50)
Review: Portuguese power wafts our way from PoleGroup's very own Norbak, a pre-eminent producer from the label's neighbouring country. Across his relatively short career Norbak has developed a distinct personal style, ever-evolving and changing. On this latest EP, we first hear 'Regra' and 'Ferramenta', both of which aggressively ferment a series of metrically unsound stares-into-the-abyss, combining knocky, low-reg fidgets with toppier emergencies and washouts. B-siders 'Amarante 9am' and 'Nota' techno prisoners either, opting for a more classically industrial sound vis-a-vis alarming stabs and crackly lower mantles.

Flujo Fatal (5:25)
Nueva Y Oscura Era (5:15)
Noches De Menta (5:07)
Dos Esqueletos (5:33)
Review: Gritty and messy techno from Spanish head Oscar Mulero, dropping a brand new EP for Polegroup. Conveying themes of flow states, fate and apocalypse, this is a surreal and deathly LP sure to gast listeners as much as it energizes them. Ranging from hard techno soundwalls to fishbony spacers, our faves have to be some of the ones in the latter camp; particularly 'Dos Esqueletos'.

Unknown Landscapes Selected I
Cat: POLEGROUP 021. Rel: 10 Dec 13

Techno
DVS1 - "Strobe"
Kwartz - "Hate"
Reeko - "Enlightenment Process"
Adam X - "Meridien Arc"
Review: As part of Oscar Mulero's Unknown Landscapes mix CD his label Pole Group has done the right thing and released the first of several various artist samplers. This first body of music is opened by the rusty pings of DVS1's "Strobe", while up and coming Spanish techno producer, Kwartz, earns his Pole Group stripes with a deep and blipping "Hate". Long-time label cohort Reeko provides the elongated mind trip that is "Enlightenment Process", and the last spot is of course reserved for industrial demigod Adam X who doesn't falter with the voltage charged "Meridien Arc".

La Penumbra EP
Cat: POLEGROUP 069. Rel: 31 Aug 23

Techno
La Penumbra
El Metodo
Las Raices
Bajo El Olivo
Review: The cover of Ribe's new EP for Polegroup seems to depict the face of some Middle Ages king buried amongst the roots of a tree and surrounded by prying eyes. It's intriguing and very much at odds with the distinctly futuristic techno contained within. 'La Penumbra' is shrouded in fog and mist as deeply buried kick roll unhindered. 'El Metodo' is a soundtrack to static electricity passing through a factory floor and sending things into overdrive. 'Las Raices' then has heavier, more raw drum kicks and absorbing ambiance up top and 'Bajo El Olivo' closes out with pinging kicks underneath the cosmic sound of a distant universe. Exceptional designs and heady moods make this a well-crafted EP.
