Notes: "Entering the Forbidden Zone" is a film by Conor McGrady, edited by John Buckley, with the soundtrack, "The Dream of Reason Brings Forth Monsters" by Nurse With Wound. The film was originally developed as a video projection for Nurse With Wound performances scheduled for Russia and for the Shepherds Bush Empire, London, but which were not able to take place due to the onset of the pandemic in 2020. The duration of the film corresponds with the duration of the planned performances.

Imagery is taken from Conor McGrady's artworks probing aspects of power or control. These often stark images have been combined with film footage to create a loose narrative journey into the dark, violent underbelly of contemporary society, generating a sense of unease or disquiet.

Conor McGrady is an artist who has exhibited in New York, Chicago, Atlanta and Zagreb, Croatia. In 2022 his first solo museum exhibition "Entering the Control Zone" took place at the Museum of Fine Art, Split, Croatia. "Entering the Forbidden Zone" was premiered in conjunction with this exhibition.

The Super Deep Cleaner is made to clean very soiled LPs and is also recommended as a pre-cleaner for extra dirty records. It is twice as powerful as Super Record Wash and should be used as the first step in the cleaning process.

Notes: During the past 20 years the quality of record players and vinyl records have improved dramatically. Acoustic feedback is one of the big problems when playing records. The cause is the sound that has just been produced by the speakers which comes back to the record player and cause it to vibrate. The problems is that there is a very slight time difference between the reproduced sound and the sound that is fed back onto the record player. This results in a big loss of detail and clarity and makes the sound "muddy". So every effort has to be done to isolate the record player from its surroundings as well as to isolate the record from the record player.

In order to reduce acoustic feedback from the surroundings back to the record and the cartridge a lot of effort has gone into developing turntable mats that make the reproduced sound crystal clear with great separation and detail. This has been done by experimenting with various materials which absorb unwanted vibrations which were not present in the original recording. Now many people are trying to combine these different materials as a sandwich at the same time in order to reach better results. Now Tonar offers you this opportunity to experiment yourself but at modest pricing.

In order to enhance the better contact between the record and the mat, the center part - with the dimensions of the label have been recessed to accommodate the thicker label part.

Defying the broken heartland of the post-industrial cities, the semi-forgotten satellite towns and the grim real politic of the Thatcher years, this was a post-punk culture full of dark dance and a death disco. The music soundtracked the style and a Stygian obsidian soundtrack fused the many fragments of culture that had been flirted with in the post-war pop narrative; a darker culture that began to coalesce around the holy trinity of the Doors, the Velvets and the Stooges in the late Sixties before flirting with glam rock, being amplified by punk, exploding as Goth, and then splintering into electronic dance music, industrial, psychobilly and new Goth, before finally filtering through dystopian Hollywood blockbusters, modern literature and throughout the modern world.

In the late Seventies, Goth culture emerged around a clutch of bands who found a new form of beauty in the apocalyptic foreboding, as a new youth tribe took glam rock from the catwalk to the cobbles and onto their own dance floors, creating their own art of darkness.

Go Ride The Music was recorded in 1969, focusing on two of the Bay Area's biggest bands at the time - Jefferson Airplane & Quicksilver Messenger Service.

West Pole is an essay on the San Francisco music scene, originally airing in 1969. It features rare performances from local and national favorites, including The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Steve Miller Band, Ace of Cups and Sons of Champlin.

Notes: Sound tuning through platter mat replacement! The interaction between the record and the surface can be tracked very easily by the sensitivity of a good pick up cartridge.

Common felt mats give a smooth contact between record and platter but have the disadvantage of static. This means that felt mats often collect a lot of dust which can be then transferred to the record. Also, the damping ability is very limited which can be a problem with metal platters. Thick rubber mats overdamp the record and have an isolation effect which leaves static on the record - hearable noise clicks are the result.

Leather and Cork are 2 different but very interesting options to upgrade the sound quality. Resonances are damped more effectively than felt, they keep dust away and also avoid static.

Which is better largely depends on taste and the actual platter design. These mats are a very cost effective way to improve the sound and have less noise by static and dust. You can hear a difference!
