Review: ***B-STOCK: Record has very light surface marks/scratches, but otherwise in perfect working order***

Josefine Hellstrom Hansson's debut track "Water Cave" on HMWLA received ADJ support from AIlario Alicante, Robert Babicz, Piemont, Slam, Paco Osuna, Horse Meat Disco, Nick Warren, Gabriel Ananda and Ame. Now the Malmo-based producer and DJ readies a three track techno / house EP on HMWL's vinyl sublabel Heartbreak Records. On A-side alongside "Water Cave" Josefine offers a peak hour techno weapon called "Sensus". On B-side we find the smooth melodic "Volcanics" at 118 BPM while fellow swede Martinez deconstructs Sensus into a jazzy, mellow piece of minimal tech.

Review: ***B-STOCK: Record has very light surface marks/scratches with bubbling under b-side label, but otherwise in perfect working order***

Sushitech's sub label Pariter has already released timeless records from the likes of Delano Smith, Steve O'Sullivan, Baby Ford and Norm Talley to name a few and this new release of the Romanian group Lisiere Collectif is no exception!

Unknown Credentials is a project of 5 tracks released on 2 single records. A sides on both parts are absolutely massive, acid lines and hypnotic chords peak time tracks that will shake any proper sound system with some serious bass extension! B sides are deeper and have more modern, fresh electroish vibe that we love!

Fans of Ricardo Villalobos & Craig Richards b2b sets are going to find it gold! Don't sleep!!

Review: ***B-STOCK: Record slightly warped with minor surface marks/scratches, but otherwise in perfect working order***

The likes of Steve O'Sullivan, Baby Ford and Norm Talley have appeared on the somewhat overlooked Sushitech sub-label Pariter since 2006. Its latest release comes from Romanian trio Lisiere Collectif, who bring the techno sound of Bucharest to you on the first installment of Unknown Credentials. Member Andu Simion is well known for his rolling and glacial grooves, and in conjunction with Bogdan Ardeleanu and Dan Gheorghe they serve up two emotive and soulful excursions. The untitled A side offering is a driving, hypnotic and overall evocative journey with an undeniable nod to the Motor City sound that you could imagine Delano Smith pumping out in the AM hours. On the B side it is a more parochial affair, yet well worthy - a bumping and funky groove that's right in line with their hometown's renowned sound.

50 Trees (5:22)
Review: After a long, well-publicised farewell, Modeselektor's 50 Weapons label finally bits the dust, bowing out with a release from the owners. For the fiftieth and final record, the German pair have recruited long-time Rhythm & Sound vocalist Paul St Hilaire. He brings his baleful, shanty style delivery to the intense, rolling title track, and if anything tempers the intensity of the massive, shimmering chord builds that unfold as "Trees" progresses. On the other side, there's "50 Trees". On this occasion, Modeselektor decide to drop out the beats and the listener is left to contend with dark, textured sound scapes, a chilling but evocative goodbye to one of techno's key imprints.

SCB - "Dissipate"
Basic Soul Unit - "Untoward"
Review: Cherry picking jams from the much anticipated Think & Change compilation, Nonplus offer up a second sneak peak at what will be on offer, and in the case of SCB and Basic Soul Unit, it's very much techno. Ploughing big room dynamics into a bleak and hostile soundscape like only he knows how, SCB is on fearsome form with "Dissipate", letting a slowly rising synth hurtle towards tomorrow, buoyed by the sturdy undercarriage of kick. Basic Soul Unit instead opts for an outsider approach, letting vaporous blasts form percussion and the groove to fall at a funny angle. Don't worry though, there's a trusty 303 bubbling away in the middle of the choppy waves.

Pearson Sound - "Quivver"
Endian - "Straight Intention"
Review: The third Think & Change plate is very much a game of two halves; Pearson Sound's "Quivver" is a marked progression from his Hessle Audio outing last year, combining D&B-like rhythm mechanics centred around the 130 zone with punishing bass weight and dramatic synth sweeps, it explodes into life with a final third of ping-pong sounds that bounce like they're trapped in a vacuum chamber. Endian's "Straight Intention" is relaxed in comparison, a mid-tempo house jam coated in dark, cavernous atmospherics that belie his drum and bass background.

Review: Acid Waxa take a break from carrying Roy's mind-warping rave gear to bring you the deep donking, hardstyle hype-up of 'The Kingdom Of Scotland' by Romeo Taylor. You may have already heard the track bouncing around the odd mix or two for those with a penchant for full-fat hard dance with a wry comedic edge. On one hand it's a patriotic pelter, on the other it's a neo-rave laff which will comfortably lodge itself in your brain, more than ably backed up by some more wayward ravey gags and headsy gear (watch out for the simmering, heads-down wave-splashed techno of 'Keep Him On The Line'. Roy Of The Ravers is on hand to deliver a more direct remix of 'The Kingdom Of Scotland' on the B side which blows the original out into a wigged out, spooked up acid gurgler. oot!

Review: The Heavy Thinker EP finds the legend that is DJ Skull back on SECT to regale our ears and limbs with further precious techno and house gems! "Bazzar" hits the spot with beautifully harmonious synths and a techno funk guitar lick that will keep you dancing forever. "Heavy Thinker" is a delirious peak time dance floor killer, working organic drum programming against techno siren and ominous kalimba hook. "Power" is all about the old school Detroit strings and tones, setting a steady pace to keep the momentum going into the small hours. Finally, "Rise" has those unmistakable Chicago house values emerging once more, as keys and strings lift the spirits to elevate mind and body.

Temporary Insanity (4:36)
Multiple Choice (5:53)
Review: Aside from all the wonderful house music than emanates from the Motor City these days - Omar S, Moodymann and Andres in mind - there aren't many more proper techno artists left in Detroit. That is, of course, apart from Terrence Dixon, who is always sure to provide the most mind-bending arrangements under his own name, and the present Population One moniker. His first EP of 2016 comes on the excellent Out Er label, and "Temporary Insanity" is instantly recognisable as his own, with an ocean twisted chords and sci-fi low tones. "Multiple Choice" is an eerie, alien-like monster of a tune, too, but here Dixon prefers to play with the swarm of melodies and bleeps at his disposal, contorting and transforming them without any fear. Amazing, as per usual.

Review: Steven Porter: easily the funniest alias we've heard in a long time. No, people; this ain't the American, early noughties progressive house legend who once famously described his style of music as 'Porterhouse'. In all seriousness: this is the collaborative project of Japanese artists Yuji Kondo and Katsunori Sawa who have appeared previously with their extreme noise terror for the likes of DJ Nobu's Bitta and Berlin's Weevil Neighbourhood. On the Superbad EP they give us the bleak body bashing industrial textures of "Dwell In Hell" and the Sunn O))) sounding black metal guitar drone of "Wild Pitch". Elsewhere, the brutal futurist extremism of "Ignorance Reins" calls to mind classic British Murder Boys.

Review: With an extensive legacy and a list of alter egos longer than your arm, Martin Damm aka Biochip C achieves a delicate balancing act on this 11 year old record, a handful of extras copies of which were recently unearthed in what can only be described as a highly fortunate 'warehouse find'. He pulls off a delicate balancing act here, letting the abrasive, industrial punk rock side of his music off the leash to frolic unhindered, while never losing sight of the needs of dancefloor and its needs across the six tracks. Highlights? Well, the title track's speedy electrofunk is highly addictive, 'Eraser' has a driving, chunky techno edge that fans of Force Inc will love, while the double dub speed grooves of 'Knobgine' and 'Liquid Silence' are forces of nature in themselves.

Space Bird (Dubfire Deep Space remix)
Space Bird (Liquid Soul remix)
Space Bird (original mix)
Review: Original live techno duo, System 7 stamp their mark on the dancefloor once again with their new single on A Wave, 'Space Bird', lifted
from their forthcoming album, 'Phoenix', which opens the label's musical account in 2008. Just starting to escape on promo, this buzzing
atmospheric instrumental sees System 7 push the envelope for a minimal sound that embraces trance in truly hypnotic dancefloor style.
'Space Bird' is the first of the two Jam El Mar collaborations on the new album, and straight out the trap is man of the moment, Dubfire's
excellent minimal trance and brooding tech house remix. Liquid Soul toughens it up with a charged, stripped-down affair that rocks the floor,
fuelled by spacey loops; and rounding off is the original version. Its chunky beats underpin the seductive musical loops building into a
full-on floorfiller that's about to start ripping up floors in Europe.
System 7 continue to defy constraints of the 'trend' side of the music scene, having appeared live at a large number of festivals this year.
Highlights include playing twice at Tokyo's Nagisa Festival, this year with Derrick May and Joaquin Joe Claussell; another mighty appearance
at the Glastonbury Festival West Dance Tent in June with A Guy Called Gerald & Trentemoller; the Main Stage at the Glade Festival with
Longrange, Digitalism & Richie Hawtin; as well as Italy's Sonica festival, Harmonia Festival in Spain and Devon's Waveform event with
Eat Static & Banco De Gaia.

Review: ***B-STOCK: Record has light surface marks/smudges, but otherwise in perfect working order***

Malmo based artist management agency now run a label. This is their third release and they've tapped the legendary Karl Axel Bissler to do the honours. "Soul" is bleepy and driving hypnotic techno in the same vein as fellow Swede Staffan Linzatti that has all the right elements: white noise splashes, reverberated percs and just enough funk in its bassline. He throws us a bit of a curveball next on the deep tribal tech house workout of "Armando Alvarez" sounding more like early Jori Hulkonnen or Nick Curly. But he gets back into the techno side of things thankfully on the flip with "By The Lake (Karl M Redefinition) another entrancing and atmospheric stomper pushing the same vibe as Ness or Claudio PRC. That's what we're talking about!

Review: Following on from last year's impressive Redlight debut, Scott Hess is back on his Adeen label with another selection of warm and inventive house cuts splashed with colour and analogue wobbles precision-engineered to catch your ear. Lead track 'Sirius City' leans on a harmonically rich lead line and plenty of off-kilter wriggles to appeal to those who want some cheekiness in their tunes. 'UFO' sports a tasteful acid tweak running in between plush pads and snappy drums, while 'Call Me, Acid' plays around with telephone tropes to make a bleepy jam that will have the ID requests flying in. 'Stars' offers something sweeter to complete the set, spacing out the beats to leave the synths plenty of room to cavort around a celestial name-checking session for deep house dreamers.

Andes Echoes (8:11)
Kalpavriksha (6:41)
Review: There can be few more prolific artists than Eduardo De La Calle. The Spanish producer has released over 70 solo singles since making his debut in 2003, as well as two full-length excursions. This latest missive sees him join forces with exotic techno specialist Mtheorem for what was meant to be a special Christmas release (it was delayed at the pressing plant). A-side "Andes Echoes" is a pleasingly trippy and far-sighted affair, with vintage intelligent techno, IDM and ambient sounds (think psychedelic acid lines, dreamy chords and Detroit melodies) riding an off-kilter techno rhythm. De La Calle's love of no-nonsense drum programming comes to the fore on flipside "Kalpavriksha", which pits thunderous kick-drums and metallic hi-hat hits against woozy synthesizer motifs.
