Review: Vladimir Sivc aka. Funky Destination has been cutting and chopping up house, funk and jazz since the late noughts, seeing multiple releases on outlets like Timewarp and Cold Busted since then. Sound Exhibitions finally team up with the Croatian crackajack for 'Jungle Bird Tree', which was originally released as an exclusive track on an obscure digital Summer 2023 compilation (seriously, it deserves better, and don't SE know), and here lend it a neat little Wicked Break rework from Louie. On the B-side comes the scruffier number 'Bar GoGo', which is our favourite of the two, not least for its sunkissed axe loops and heartfelt folk vocal sample.

Review: Sound Exhibitions Records is an Italian label founded in 2010 based in Olbia, Sardinia. After some great releases by scene heroes such Fabiolous Barker, Phil Disco and Dave Gerrard, they're back with this terrific various artists EP to show you where they're at in 2021. The A side kicks off with a couple of hot jams by Monsieur Van Pratt, such as the sexy boogie-down vibe of 'Groove In Your Soul' (with Maicol Mayers) followed by 'The Speech' (also featuring Maicol Mayers) which ventures into sexy low-slung territory for the late night. On the flip, Mr ThruouT is clearly the man of the show on the slo-mo soul of 'Adapter' followed by some sensual deep disco in the form of vocal number 'Thrubet Ottobre Funk'.

Review: The Sound Exhibitions label from Italy presents more sure-footed disco house edits to get you grooving in all the right ways, featuring no less than six cuts packed onto this slab of wax. Luciano FM takes the cake on the A side, laying down two superlative joints which strike a sweet balance between looped-up dancefloor mentality and warm, flowing groove. Alexny meanwhile slips into a deeper kind of jam led by the power of the house drums and deploying brass stabs at key moments for maximum satisfaction. Pakoemme brings a sentimental lilt to 'I Want You', Windy City get all rubbery and nasty on the brilliant 'Mr Balearic' and Mosaik seals the deal with dub-licked house cut outright 'Searching'.

Review: 'Disco Tape', which launched via a must-check 12" back in August 2023, os Sound Exhibitions' multi-artist EP series. This second volume is a similarly action-packed affair that gleefully blurs the boundaries between reworks, re-edits and sample-heavy original productions. Alexny kicks things off with two sun-soaked treats - the percussive and warming tropical disco tribute 'Caribbean Breeze' and the sax solo-sporting dancefloor shuffle of 'Bada Boom' - before Paride Pavone rounds off side A with the jazzy disco-house celebration of 'In Key'. Phil Disco impresses on side B with two killer cuts (the funky bass-propelled disco heaviness of 'Never Gonna Leave You' and the swirling jazz-funk-house bump of 'Disco Ipno', while disco-funk specialist C Da Afro rounds things off in fine style via the insatiable grooves and fluttering flute solos of 'The Choice'.
