It’s a Vancouver affair as The Hague-based platform readies a second edition of it’s cassette mix series.
Wichelroede’s entrance into the realm of physically-released mixes got off to an auspicious start earlier this year, with the Den Haag-based platform seeking out the considered selecting skills of Ben UFO and Beatrice Dillon. Wrapped in vacuum-sealed packaging, the near-90 minutes of music from the Hessle Audio man and TTT associate Dillon is already earmarked deep within the spreadsheet scarily-titled EOY 2016 and gets regular repeat plays on the Juno office stereo. The implication from Wichelroede was further cassette mixes would follow as the year unfolded and details of the next are now with us.
The artists involved are Jayda G and LNS, two Vancouver-based artists and friends who recently graduated from highly-regarded DJs to most promising producers with aplomb. Readers of Juno Plus should be eminently familiar with Jayda G; she turned in a fine podcast for us earlier this year as well as making waves as a producer with records on the Freakout Cult label she operates with DJ Fett Burger. LNS made her debut earlier this year with a tape of supple, understated electro for 1080p, and has a 12″ coming on the aforementioned Freakout Cult later this year.
For the incoming Wichelroede tape, Jayda G runs through 42 minutes of soul and funk whilst LNS trades between RnB instrumentals, tribal house and early ’90s IDM. The label has opted for the vacuum-packed approach once again, whilst the tape will be accompanied by an A3 folded, hand-numbered risoprint designed and illustrated by co-founder and designer Fallon Does. Update: the tape is now available at the Wichelroede site.
