7777 digs for Ghost Miners

Tracks from Jared Wilson’s debut album are remixed by Brain Thrash, Aaron ‘FIT’ Siegel and the late Andreas Gehm.

There was a period when Jared Wilson (pictured above) was never far away from our news feed thanks to a busy time releasing with labels like Dolly, Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Skudge Presents and Lux Rec. Between 2012 and 2015, Wilson was at his most prolific in terms of releases, and during this time his own 7777 label expanded by putting out records by Todd Osborne, Elias Landberg’s Kel alias and a project called Downriver Psychic Divas. In 2014, Wilson self-released his debut album, Ghostminers, with a follow up Ghostminers II 12″ surfacing not long afterwards, and as we enter 2016’s halfway point Wilson has now revealed his debut LP has been remixed by FIT Sound man Aaron Siegel, newcomer Brian Thrash and the late Andreas Gehm who passed away late last month.

Wilson explains of the remix EP: “I offered each producer samples from different songs from the 2 Ghost Miners records. Instead of doing straight forward remixes of a single song, I put forth the proposal for each artist to make their own version of a Ghost Miners song from scratch or using any samples they feel like.” Underground Resistance affiliate Raphael Merriweathers Jr., aka Ray-7, provides hand claps on FIT Siegel’s version while Wilson describes Gehm’s rework as “standard Gehm acid brilliance.” Ghost Miners Remixed provides 7777 with a first release of 2016 while Wilson himself only recently dropped another Dixon Avenue Basement 12″ called Communing With Ghosts.

7777 will release Ghost Miners Remixed on July 25.
