Brokntoys expands with Discos Del Quebranto

Börft legends Frak lines up the first release on the newly-announced offshoot of the London label.

With their distinctive sleeve art and a dedication to championing the electro cause, London’s Brokntoys have become a crucial outpost for those seeking to explore the outer fringes of the genre. Developing at a steady pace since their emergence with a Pip Williams 12″ late into 2013, Brokntoys has swung from dedicated artist singles to split affairs and worked with high calibre electro exponents such as Luke Eargoggle, Dez Williams, Echo 106 and Marco Bernardi over the course of their output. Close followers of Brokntoys will have seen them recently introduce a new series of live recordings called Fringe Theory and it transpires their remit is set to expand further over the coming months.

Discos Del Quebranto is, in the label’s own words, “the first in a series of Brokntoys offshoots,” and comes with a stated focus on “quixotic electronics.” It falls on Börft act Frak to inaugurate Discos Del Quebranto next month with Tivoli Circus, a four-track 12″ of typically twisted techno laid down at the ‘reignited’ Studio Styrka that has been responsible for many recordings on Jan Svensson’s label. You can familiarise yourselves with this debut DDQ salvo from Frak below with a healthy eight-minute preview, whilst we await further developments from Brokntoys with interest.

Discos Del Quebranto will release Tivoli Circus by Frak in June.
