ORO announce IVVVO and Brian Routh projects

Two very distinct releases will arrive as the first vinyl transmissions on the fledgling Hemlock offshoot.

To date, the ORO offshoot of Hemlock Recordings has dealt exclusively in USB releases with last year’s inaugural Echo In The Valley mixtape from Untold complemented by a new Lord Skywave album from veteran UK artist Simon Lord. Both these ORO projects were highly limited, hand-crafted affairs with the Lord Skywave album Woven taking on the appearance of a small bottle with the USB housed in the cork. Details on two further releases on ORO due later this month have now surfaced with the more traditional vinyl format adopted for both.

The third ORO release takes shape as a four-track presentation of work by Brian Routh, a performance artist, songwriter and poet from Co. Durham, who has been active since the early ’70s. In addition to The Kipper Kids band in which Routh first surfaced, the British artist has also worked with PiL, Genesis P. Orridge, Sex Pistols, Derek Bailey, and Henry Rollins over the years. The upcoming You Can’t Be Me EP features soundworks by Routh recorded earlier this year in Leicester and looks to capture the essence of his style, with the artist offers the following description: “The songs/rants/poems on this EP are spontaneous verbal outpourings and the content is whatever oozes out of me; sometimes rants, sometimes poetry, sometimes self-reflection.”

Joining Routh on ORO is a name that will be more familiar to readers of Juno Plus in London-based Portuguese artist IVVVO. Pictured above, Ivo Pacheco has cultivated an impressive discography in recent years with releases on Opal Tapes, Public Information, Crème, and Danse Noire among others. IVVVO’s ORO debut is When I Feel You Wet, a one track 12″ that ” beams thirteen minutes of brooding doom techno around the darker corners of the dancefloor.” A brief two-minute preview of the IVVVO record can be heard below along with the Routh record.

ORO will release You Can’t Be Me by Brian Routh and When I Feel You Wet by IVVVO on October 30.
