Optimo Trax goes transatlantic

Alex Burkat, L/F/D/M, Neil Landstrumm and more feature on the label’s Glasgow London New York Edinburgh 12″.

Established back in 2013 to help facilitate JD Twitch’s unquenchable desire to service the more considered DJs out there, Optimo Trax has been in fine form so far this year with two 12″ releases standing out. Both Big Saints Reward (88-90 Dubs) by Severed Heads and the split Drum Attack EP are among our favourite 12″s of 2015, though the archival approach shown there will be put aside for the next Optimo Trax release with current day producers back under the spotlight. Taking the self-explanatory title Glasgow London New York Edinburgh, the new record canvasses productions from both sides of the Atlantic with newcomers and familiar faces featuring.

Looking close to home, Glasgow DJ and producer Beta (resident at Sub Club night i AM) makes his debut in high profile fashion, sharing space with Optimo Trax regular L/F/D/M who adopts the amusingly modified moniker Love’s Flaccid Disco Muscle. Taking the New York position is Mister Saturday Night affiliate Alex Burkat (who now resides in Philadelphia) with “Culture Circle” which comes described as “8 minute depth charge”. Proceedings close with a touch of Edinburgh production vintage from Modini, a recently established project from Neil Landstrumm and Alan ‘Hostage’ Parley last spotted on DABJ. Optimo Trax will release the Glasgow London New York Edinburgh 12″ by Various Artists on September 18.
