Emotional Response outline late 2015 schedule

The lost album from The Laughing Light Of Plenty will arrive soon ahead of a typically wide-ranging array of projects from Stuart Leath’s label.

We often joke that Emotional Rescue/Response boss Stuart Leath has more music in the works than he knows what to do with, but it seems that may actually be the case. Details of a wealth of releases and collaborations with other labels due on his Emotional Response operation in the coming months arrive augmented by the news he has decided to put the archivally focused Emotional Rescue on hiatus for six months in order to fully concentrate on them. First up for release is a new edition of an album that many thought would never see proper release, the mythical LP from Thomas Bullock and Eddie Ruscha’s The Laughing Light Of Plenty project.

Under the name, the star-gazing pair were responsible for a self-titled debut long player on the cultish Whatever We Want label that was pressed but released in super limited quantities in Japan, and is considered one of the great lost albums of the last decade. Bullock’s STD Records has joined forces with Emotional Response to issue an earlier version of the album that was recorded under the name The Naturals. A press release for On The Way (To The Laughing Light Of Plenty) describes it as “more than just an rediscovery of one of the great lost albums of the last decade, but of how things were always intended,” and it can be previewed below ahead of official release on Friday.

Subsequent to this, Leath has a barrage of music planned for the final quarter of 2015 with October seeing a vinyl issue of Apollo Soyuz, a mini-LP from Randall ‘fuxa’ Nieman and Neil McKay (best known for his work in ’80s psyche outfit Loop). Complementing this, Christian Pannenburg (owner of Berlin’s Record Loft) and Jan ‘Wolf Müller’ Shulte will return as Montezumas Rache on a 12″ with Dunkelziffer’s Dominik due for release in collaboration with Phil South’s Golf Channel label.

Later in the year Emotional Response will narrow the focus on Düsseldorf with two releases themed around The Durian Brothers and their satellite projects. A six-track mini-LP from The Durian Brothers called Rauschthalt will be complemented by a double LP retrospective of the Diskant label they run which collates material from Harmonious Thelonious, The Duriant Brothers and Don’t DJ. A second album from Jon Tye and Guido Zen’s Brain Machine is mooted for late 2015/early 2016 along with further editions of the Schleißen series.

Emotional Response/STD Records will release On The Way (To The Laughing Light Of Plenty) by The Naturals on August 7.
