Dekmantel 2015 takes shape

Roy Ayers, Actress, Veronica Vasicka, and Madlib are amongst the first 65 names confirmed for the third edition of the Amsterdam festival.

Under the stewardship of Thomas Martojo and Casper Tielrooij, Dekmantel made the transition from putting on midscale parties in Amsterdam to a highlight of the annual festival circuit look remarkably easy and assured. Launched in 2013, both editions of Dekmantel Festival to date have been considered a success, playing host to a well regarded array of house and techno talent in the leafy surrounds of Amsterdam Bos. The 2014 edition saw Dekmantel Festival expand to three days, and the lack of logistical issues experienced clearly suggested the organisers should retain the format for this year’s edition.

Today a typically strong first round of names for Dekmantel Festival 2015 were announced, with 150-plus in total to be revealed before proceedings commence on Friday, July 31. What’s most immediate is the addition of an opening event at the Muziekgebouw venue which will play host to live performances from Manuel Göttsching presents E2-E4 live, and Warp act Autechre. As for the festival proper, in amongst Dek Fest regulars such as Jeff Mills, Hessle Audio, Nina Kraviz, Motor City Drum Ensemble, are some more intriguing names that should widen the musical remit markedly.

The Roy Ayers-led Ubiquity will perform live, and the likes of Madlib, Helena Hauff, Actress, Silent Servant and Minimal Wave boss Veronica Vasicka should bring something that blurs the edges of house and techno. With Trouw now closed, official Dekmantel Festival after parties will take place at Melkweg with more details about those to follow.

The full line up announcement can be viewed at the official Dekmantel Festival site where you can also buy tickets for the event with a weekend pass priced at €115.
