Sculpture lose the Video Plot

The audio-visual pairing have contributed the next mixtape to Software’s Mixware series featuring music “culled from the duo’s live shows”.

Oneohtrix Point Never’s Software label has enjoyed a fruitful 2014 by providing more weird and wonderful concoctions of pleasantly twisted sounds thanks to American artists Suicideyear, Napolian and Slava, while also providing Thug Entrancer with a debut album. The label’s also released a compilation featuring music from those aforementioned artists and others like Pete Swanson, Huerco S. and Scuplture, whose mind bending Membrane Pop, described by Scott Wilson as “an album of short, sharp sonic shocks,” was a crowning release for Software this year.

Best experienced in a live context, Dan Hayhurst and Reuben Sutherland as Sculpture create a homogeneous audio-visual show that’s uniquely their own. Video Plot, Sculpture’s second missive for Software, and follow up from this year’s album, compiles recordings of their live performances from around the March release of Membrane Pop. A press release writes, “Reuben’s kaleidoscopic animations coalesce with Dan’s frenetic unspooling of sonic detritus in gleeful, ecstatic levels, encapsulated (miraculously) in Video Plot.”

Following Napolian’s Road To Incursio tape from earlier this month, Sculpture’s addition provides a second cassette to Software’s Mixware series, a platform shining light on new, old, and unreleased music alongside remixes, edits, and archival material that welcomes “free explorations by the Software crew.” Take in Sculpture’s Video Plot and audio-visual ways below.
