The Green Door Studio to embark on collaborative recording project
Members of Golden Teacher, Whilst and other Glaswegian bands will participate in a year long recording project with youth music groups in Ghana and Belize.
If you’ve been paying attention to Juno Plus in recent years, you will have noticed how impressed we have been by the continuous stream of inventive and exciting bands and artists whose music has been made possible by The Green Door Studio. Optimo Music have of course been a willing outlet for some of these groups, with both Golden Teacher (pictured above) and Whilst benefiting from the Glasgow studio space, while the likes of Domino and Moshi Moshi have also released material from bands utilising The Green Door Studio.
Exciting news now emerges Green Door have been granted funding by Celebrate (Big Lottery Fund) to commence a year long project with Tafi Atome Cultural Village and Lebeha Drum Center, two similarly minded youth music groups based in Ghana and Hopkins, Volta Region, and Belize. Members of Glasgow bands Golden Teacher, Whilst, Vudu Zoo, J-Jems and Froth will participate in the programme along with musicians from Ghana and Belize with the aim of writing, performing and recording an album. The results will be mixed down at The Green Door Studio and released through Optimo Music in June next year.
