Strategy returns to Idle Hands with Seeds Of Paradise

The Portland-based producer will grace the Bristol label with a new album later this month.

It’s probably faint praise to call Paul Dickow prolific; in the 15 years the Portland-based artist has been making music, there have been no less than eight Strategy albums and countless more releases across 12″, 7″, CDr and cassette formats. Furthermore, the range of labels that have released his work adds credence to his reputation for stylistic unpredictability, with venerable US experimental outpost Kranky, local Portland digidub addicts ZamZam, 100% Silk, Endless Flight and Idle Hands all appearing in his busy discography.

Having already issued a cassette on 100% Silk and showcased his rave sampling chops on a mini LP for Peak Oil this year, Dickow is set to return to Idle Hands later this month with Seeds Of Paradise, his ninth full-length project. Fans of Strategy output for the aforementioned ZamZam and Kranky should pay particular notice with Idle Hands stating the eight-track set “nestles deftly between roots influence and sci-­fi leanings”. A quick glance at Dickow’s personal website suggests there are further Strategy albums in the works for the excellent Seattle label Further and the UK operation Entr’acte.

Idle Hands will release Seeds Of Paradise by Strategy on October 27.
