Illum Sphere mixes Fabriclive 78

The Hoya:Hoya resident and Ninja Tune artist will be the next to contribute to the illustrious mix series.

As a founding member of the Hoya:Hoya clubnight, Illum Sphere (real name Ryan Hunn) makes a logical addition to Fabric’s long running mix series, with the long-running Manchester collective regular fixtures on the Friday night listings at the cavernous Farringdon venue since 2011. The upcoming Fabriclive 78 represents the first commercially released mix from Illum Sphere, an artist whose diverse selections very much bleeds into the music he makes, something demonstrated on last year’s Ghosts Of Then And Now album for Ninja Tune.

A swift glance at the tracklisting for the upcoming 24-track mix more than merits the seal of approval from Juno Plus, with the hero Charles Manier present alongside classic Das Ding and Grauzone, an ambient highlight of Tryptych-era Demdike Stare and contributions from Actress, Legowelt, Powell and Streetwalker. Mixed at home, Hunn apparently looked to capture the vibe of an Illum Sphere set at Fabric’s room 2 across the 24 tracks with a press release quoting the producer as stating: “In terms of range I think the oldest thing is probably late ’70s and the newest thing came out this year.”

Due for release in November, the mix will be celebrated in customary fashion with a launch party at Fabric with the Hoya:Hoya crew of Illum Sphere, Eclair Fifi, Krystal Klear, Jonny Dub and the excellent Jon K joined by honourary member JTC. More details on that here.

Fabric will release Fabriclive 78 by Illum Sphere on November 17.
