The Juan Maclean return with new album

A third album entitled In A Dream will arrive on regular home DFA in September.

If we drew a office poll at Juno Plus of the favourite records released on DFA over the years, it’s likely The Juan Maclean would feature prominently. Nancy Whang’s ongoing project with hard-edged Bostonite John Maclean has been responsible for some truly memorable music over the years, not least their 2005 debut album Less Than Human. It’s been some five years since their equally well loved second album The Future Will Come (which featured the all conquering “Happy House”) but the pair have remained busy, issuing a steady stream of DFA 12″s as well as gathering together a bunch of B-sides and rarities for a 2011 digital collection called Everybody Get Close.

News now arrives via Pitchfork of a third album from The Juan Maclean called In A Dream, which is due for release in September. Once again arriving via DFA, the album looks to consist of entirely new material from Maclean and Whang, and has been described on a press release as “The Nancy Show”. The album artwork and associated press shots would imply further that Whang has been thrust into the spotlight for In A Dream. As a taste of what’s to come, DFA have also unveiled a Tyler Brodie-helmed video for eight-minute album opener “A Place Called Space” which you can soak up below.

DFA Records will release In A Dream by The Juan Maclean on September 15.
