Tornado Wallace travels to Circadia with ESP Institute

Circadia

Preview the Australian producer’s three-track return to the New York label.

Circadia marks Lewis Day’s second full outing on Lovefingers’ ESP Institute under the Tornado Wallace moniker after last year’s Thinking Allowed 12″, a record of slow-burning Balearic oddities that showed just how far the Australian producer’s sound has come since debuting in 2010. According to ESP, the forthcoming Circadia sees Day building on his sound once again, riffing on the label’s themes “whilst sophisticatedly amplifying their character.”

As demonstrated by the preview below, Circadia sees the Aussie producer dip further into the world of new age motifs and tropical house textures also popular with like-minded producers Young Marco, the Mood Hut collective and fellow countryman Andras Fox. However, it’s not just pan pipes, synths and the odd guitar lick on display, with “Soft Light” merging jacking Chicago drums and snapping percussion with bouncing pulses of bleepy tones. Interested parties will be able to check the record out in full when it drops on July 14.
