An-i remixes Empfänger for Born Free
The new Douglas Lee project turns in an acid revision of the next release on Sling & Samo’s label – listen here.
Although arguably not quite the household name as many of the producers that came out of New York’s punk-edged disco movement in the last decade, Douglas Lee has had a hand in more than his fair share of big records, most notably his TBD collaborations with Justin Vandervolgen and Bad News productions with L.I.E.S. boss Ron Morelli – his dubbed out remix of The Juan Maclean’s “Happy House” from 2008 also deserves a special mention. Most recently Lee has moved to Berlin where he’s been pursuing techno in a more primal form with his An-i project.
Having debuted the alias on Minimal Wave’s Cititrax label last month, and with a track on Power Vacuum’s Vectors EP due next month, Lee will soon deliver another piece of headspinning acid techno with a forthcoming remix of the unheralded Empfänger on Sling & Samo’s Born Free label. Streaming below, it’s less abrasive than his Cititrax release, but contains enough scrambled synth noises to ensure maximum dancefloor destruction.
