Pinch & Mumdance team up on Tectonic
The UK producers confirm release details of their first collaboration to be released on Tectonic Recordings.
News of an unexpected collaboration between dubstep figurehead Pinch and chameleonic UK producer Mumdance (pictured above) was first revealed last year, when the pair uploaded a brilliant B2B mix to SoundCloud to herald the start of their work together as a duo. Containing the collaborative track “Turbo Mitzi”, it showed off a unique proto jungle direction which was reflected in the tracklist as a whole which mixed up dubplates from themselves with the likes of DJ Richard, Shapednoise and Answer Code Request.
Full details of the duo’s first record together have now emerged, which will be released on Pinch’s Tectonic label next month. Featuring the aforementioned “Turbo Mitzi”, the two-track single comes together with “Whiplash”, which is described rather excitedly as having “a breakneck rhythm that sounds like alien foot soldiers on a slaughter spree”. Advance test pressings which went on sale at the yesterday have already sold out, but clips of both tracks can still be heard at the Tectonic store.
Tectonic Recordings will release Turbo Mitzi/Whiplash on 12″ and digital formats on February 24.
