Dave Smith Instruments to demo new Prophet 12 at Juno HQ

Dave Smith Instruments’ new Prophet 12 synthesizer will be available to try at its first UK showcase in London on Saturday July 6 & Monday July 8.

Announced at the beginning of the year, the Prophet 12 is the successor to the flagship Prophet 8, and expands on its predecessor’s capabilities with full 12 voice polyphony, made from an all-new voice architecture featuring a hybrid of analogue and digital sound. Described by Dave Smith as his “best synth yet”, it also features a new Character section featuring all manner of sound sculpting options which come with intriguing names like Drive, Hack, Decimation, Girth, and Air; although the unit keeps things largely traditional in its control options, it does feature two touch sensitive sliders in addition to the standard knobs and pitch/modulation wheels.

The new synth will see its first UK demonstration courtesy of Juno Plus’ elder sibling Juno Records, taking place in the freshly opened studio demonstration room at their Camden HQ. Carson Day from Dave Smith Instruments will be present to demonstrate the synth on Saturday July 6 and Monday July 8 along with DSI’s Tempest analogue drum machine, together with the full DSI synthesiser and module range for those curious to see how the different units in the DSI range – which also includes the Mopho and Tetra synthesisers – compare against each other.

Both events will take place at Juno DJ & Studio, 9 Greenland Street, Camden, London NW1 0ND, between 1pm and 5pm. Places are free for those wishing to attend, but are also limited; attendees should call 020 7424 1962 or e-mail instore@juno.co.uk to register.
