Emile Strunz and Last Waltz feature on next World Unknown 12″

Andy Blake and Joe Hart’s World Unknown empire will cast its eyes to the tropical climes of England’s North East for its sixth release, a split EP featuring tracks from Emile Strunz and Last Waltz.

Many words of praise have spilled from these pages in admiration of the London party-cum-label, whose vinyl-only label launched last year and has since seen 12″s featuring the likes of Naum Gabo, Neville Watson and Timothy Fairplay.

The label’s next release is a double header showcasing some Newcastle based production talent in Strunz (the alter ego of Neil James Smith) and the Last Waltz troupe, with both parties long time purveyors of the kind of visceral body music found emitting from the speakers at WU gatherings. Strunz’s “Shields” is described in World Unknown’s reliably erudite press notes as “stunning midtempo body music sleaze“, while the Last Waltz offering is a glacially paced slice of chunky Balearica.

World Unknown will release Shields/Lovebites on June 4, 2012.
