Not much is known about the release just yet, other than that it is entitled Lineas Angola and set for release on Funkaholic’s Rush Hour-affiliated Kindred Spirits imprint.
The Nacho Patrol guise is one of Wolfers’ most interesting – if little used – monikers. In recent years, he’s used it as an outlet for a style probably best dubbed “afro-cosmic” – a sweaty, Malaria-ridden fusion of Afro-disco, Italo and cosmic disco. Last year saw the release of The Africa Jet Band Album, described by Juno Plus writer Matt Anniss as”a sweaty, light-headed mixture cascading synths, urgent clavinet lines, heavy organs, prominent melodies and Afro-influenced percussion”.
Little known South African outfit BBC are a peculiar but fascinating choice for remixer; they came to prominence with two tracks on the excellent Shangaan Electro: New Wave Dance Music From South Africa compilation, released in 2010 via Honest Jon’s.
No word on a release date yet but keep an eye on Juno Plus for more details as they emerge.
